Its a nice guitar. A bit OTT in the bling stakes but theres nothing wrong with that.
Although, I'll see your crude white plastic vine:

and raise you my wood and abalone one :pac:

Looks sort of ugly IMO. Not my sort of thing. I prefer guitars to look as clean, smooth and visually un-noisey as possible.

Minor flaw though.......would anyone in the audience spot that from the bar after 10 pints of beer.

    Definate bling bling alright....

I don't know what it is about that guitar... It seems to me that nobody but the most insane virtuoso shred artist should be using that. I mean, can you imagine going to a gig and seeing the guitarist wearing that, and then...1, 2, 3, 4.... Smoke on the water. :p

I personally don't think guitars come much better than this type of finish:

I can picture Vai using it alright......but then he can get away with a guitar like that.

I really don't get this kinda thing... It just strikes me as tacky. It's a bit like putting lipstick on a pig. I think guitars look better when they've been beaten up a bit, you know the guy who buys this guitar is gonna cry when he scratches it.

I'd buy it, but then again, i am in a shred-fest band.

Except there's nothing sillier than a beaten-up Strat played by a lawyer in a clean shirt, who payed €2000 for it from the Custom Shop.

Give me this edwards on the ubox instead:

It's an E-SN-145FR with a really nice top. Not usually a fan of quilt but there's something about this one and the color. Works really well I think.

Edit: Damn tempted by this. She'd be mine if I hadn't bought so much new gear in the last week

I think it looks hideous. I really don't understand abalone binding. You only seem to find it on cheaper guitars that are trying to look fancy. I'd rather the money be spent on better quality parts and fit and finish.

    Better quality parts.......
Seymour Duncans, Gotoh tuners, Floyd Rose trem, quilted maple, ebony fretboard, 9 piece walnut/maple neck-thru-body......
What more can you want with parts? The only issue, is the inlay, and maybe the overall look of it, but that's a matter of opinion, doesn't affect the playability of it at all. The hardware is top notch on it.

Funnily enough I was looking at that Edwards again yesterday, the bling one. It's tacky, yes, but there is something about that is quite intriguing and I keep coming back to it. Someone on this forum got one last year IIRC? They have a model just below this one with the same body shape but a flame top and H-S-H and a blank fretboard. It's very nice indeed.

Haha, I wasn't trying to post a guy with a strat! I'm very aware it's Nels Cline :D

    (and yep, Jazzmaster)

Haha! Yes, it has to bear the scratches and marks of one's own career to be truly cool.

The hardware looks alright indeed. But is the quilted maple top solid or is it a veneer? Is the body actual mahogany (or whatever) or is it an Asian approximation? Is the fret work as good as a similarly priced Ibanez (or whatever)? I don't know.

Personally, I'd just go for a less flashy guitar with a similar spec (and there are many) because I think the money would be better spent on the likes of fretwork and high quality woods.

That looks like a 1/4" top over ash.

I actually have the 155 model, buildwise and hardware wise I find it to be a great guitar, the sound from it is fantastic. I like the Ibanez vine too, this one just carried the out there ideas one step further.

Mine is the black aqua quilt, perhaps if people saw the black cherry or the natural colour quilt they may find the look to blend together nicer. Different strokes for different folks and all that. This would be one of the more radical designs in my collection, definitely. I would generally veer towards more subtle guitars or standard models in an interesting colour but this one just caught my eye.
