    Hi Guys.

First time poster in Darts long time lurker around here.
It all started after last years wdc. got a board as a present. Been playin it with a few beers and nothin more until maybe 1 month ago. Started to play it more regularly.
Anyway I have increased my average to 60-70 a throw. I have used http://www.rusys.nl/dartpro/index.html the program here with a few games. Likes of Cricket and Round the Clock. Games i never heard about.

Does anyone have any recommendations on some throwing routines which will help me improve my game. How do you all "train".
Got my first ever high score of 140 today which was a fluke but it has me hooked.

I appreciate help from you guys.
P.s. is there anywhere i could pick up a game with different competition that my usual drunken mates.???

Well to keep you interested when you can't get anyone to play why not grab n01, another app like dartpro that records scores but you play against the computer on 6 levels. http://www.nakka.com/soft/n01/index_eng.html

Check out this thread for some tips

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055397799&highlight=practice

The most important thing is to play as many games as you can, preferably againts a human opponent but using the software above to play against the computer is a very good way too.

Welcome to the forum, hope to see you posting more around here!

You must be a hell of a finisher to be averaging high 60's having only ever hit one 140.

Advice, get involved in a club somewhere and play regularly, learn to count properly and watch darts, you'll learn a lot from really watching, working out the checkouts, asking yourself, mmm why did he go that way when I would have gone another way for a checkout.

There's a sticky on this thread with a darts pub guide to Ireland, there's a lot of places covered and somebody will point you in the right direction if we're stuck.

Drop into any of these pubs listed in the links below for a game. There will always be lads playing so easy to get a game and it's great fun. They will be happy to give you some tips on how to improve etc

Also if you are feeling up to it then keep your eye on RTE Aertel page 426 for upcoming tournaments around the country. Even if you are terrible I would still recommend going along to a tournament because it's great experience and you will get to chat a lot of players. Here is a link to the page:

    Hope that helps

Averaging is worked out over the entire leg and game including the finishing. So have 10 games of 501, add up the scores and divide by the amount of darts you used. Dart pro should do this for you. You might be on a finish in 12 darts but if it takes you another 12 to hit a double then it has taken 24 darts to complete the leg, this gives you a single dart average of 20.8 and a 3 darts average of 62.

Finishing is what usually kills good average scoring. Those missed doubles just keep adding up.
