Really interested in acquiring a tele over the christmas period but have no idea of the kind of tone itll provide! Im really looking for a guns n roses tone from the chunky riffs of 'better' to slashes tones on both 'welcome to...' and 'sweet child' i just really love a nice creamy and full tone. Im quite interested in techniques such as pinches and sweeps and was wonderin whether these would be relatively easy to Perform on a tele. Theyre just so goddamn sexy! Only maple necked suggestions by the way!:)

To get GnR sounds you'll need humbuckers and this is what I'd recommend:

I have the same guitar on order from that website :) Check out the videos on youtube and the reviews on Harmony Central

The mahogany body and humbuckers should make it sound more Les Paul like than your typical Tele. Also, the neck has a 12mm radius so sweeping should be fine on it :)

Edit: Oops, didnt see maple necked :(

    In that case:

    Fender Jim Root:

With a pickup change that would prob be ideal.

You want a Les Paul and not a Telecaster.

Also, contrary to the name, the Telecaster Deluxe doesn't really sound like a Telecaster or even a Les Paul.

There is a Fat tele on adverts for sale, has a humbucker in the neck and a single coil at the bridge, it'll give you all the fat tone you need. Fender also do a Telecaster FMT, which will serve your purposes.

There's an amazing G&L on adverts that would also meet your requirements ;)

    a schecter pt
then just buy a duncan jazz and a jb to replace the i think duncan designed pups,
and its a tasty looking guitar not so expensive either and they play well .

Izzy Stradlin played a Telecaster, did he not?

If you practise enough, anything'll be easy to play on it :)

Not sure about the metal pickguard, but the old John5 with the bigsby was quite nice, as are any telecasters with bigsbys.

+1 I'd say LP rather than Tele for the G n R sounds.
