Where is the best place in Europe that would be good for Christmas/New Year's? (not UK)

We went to Paris two years back. Really enjoyed it. Yes, it was a bit pricy over there, but there's lots to do.

Went to Prague in the run up to Christmas before and enjoyed it too.

Tbh, if you're spending Christmas/NY's in another country, it's more important who you're bringing than where you go. Christmas day can be a lot more boring in a foreign country.

german and austrian cites have the best christmas markets. just back from malaga myself and the town is lit up like a giant christmas tree at night, in fact there is a 100ft+ christmas tree in the middle of town. its also lovely and sunny over there at the minute so you could walk on the beach on christmas day

    Hey Glacier,
Was in Prague there at the end of November for a few days. Just about caught the start of Christmas over there.
Its a lovely place. Christmas markets in both old and new town are lovely. Massive trees at both with little stalls selling all kinds of gifts for Christmas. Lovely to walk around with a glass of Mulled wine to keep ye warm!!! Really nice atmosphere. Its fairly cold over there too!!!
Also a great town for nice beer?!!! Lots to do there as well.
I'd imagine it'd be a lovely place to spend the Christmas.

    Glacier,

New Year's in Prague you won't regret. Absolutely wild new year there in the Old Town Square, watch out for the fireworks though! If you see a big hole appearing in the crowd don't go an have a look - it's because someone has lit a cherry bomb (and they sell them BIG there!) but I can't recommend Prague for NYE highly enough, you'll love it. (left it a bit late tho'?)
