Well it is a very stressful time especially with the Leaving Cert, I'm finding myself being very moody due to it, I suppose its a natural thing.
I would suggest checking your diet and if your not eating the proper things this can affect you, (one of the problems I had when i was suffering from depression).
Enjoy life, your what 17-18. I'm pritty much the same age and I just say f*ck it I'm going to enjoy everything, looking foward to X-Mas, Summer and finishing school forever, look for every positive and don't try knock yourself.
I don't want to judge because I can't but I'm sure you will be alright.
If you have any questions about depression you can give me a pm and I can try tell you my own personal experiance of depression.

    Hi

Nobody needs to feel like you do. If you have supportive parents/siblings/relatives, talk to them about how you are feeling. If you have suicidal thoughts, you need to look for some help - there is no shame in it, everyone needs a pillar now and again. I myself have been through the same kind of thing and the one thing that got me out of it was talking through it with other people I trusted. There are even support groups that you can go to just to chat and support other people with the same problems. You may even benefit from going to a therapist, just to talk and clear your mind. Another option could be alternative medicines and healing.

The leaving cert is a horrible time, but honestly, dont stress too much about it. There are plenty of different routes available to those who dont fit in with the system! I personally got the points i was after, did 5 years of college and now am working in a place where they didn't even look for my CV/Qualifications! How silly do I feel :) Its all life experience though...

Take care and have a lovely break from studying (sounds like you earned one!)

Oh god, I was exactly the same way (10 years ago now eep).

I actually hadn't realised how down I had become until I started getting better. I was actually quite proud of being depressed, it made me feel special, I used to go out and cry in the back garden, my poor mother must have been worried the neighbours would report her!

The start of college was also distressing as a lot of my friends went away to college (I stayed home). But once I got into the swing of things in my course it all started looking up and I was extremely happy.

Just remember that these feelings are temporary and you will feel better in time. Also I found my LC depression helped me deal with a lot of subsequent grief, it turned out to be good practice.
