iPod Touch - January capacity upgrade?

Is it likely that Apple will upgrade the iPod Touch's capacity in January to coincide with Macworld? I've heard rumours of a 64GB.....what have you heard?

See right now, I could buy a 32GB iPod Touch up north for under 300 euro which is pretty good value.

But I'm thinking I should wait until the end of January for a 64GB iPod Touch for similar money (assuming a similar exchange rate)

Personally i doubt it, i don't think the price of SSD's has gone down that much since the last upgrade (i could be wrong there though).

    No I think you're right there, I don't see a 64gb touch happening either

64Gb Flash Drive iTouch?? Aye, tis unlikely.

it's possible then that the speculation on the web is just wishful thinking. At Macworld, they'll surely bump the specs a little bit I think.

Macworld is on early this year too so I suppose I don't have that long to wait

Macworld this year is focusing on the iMac's and theMac Mini upgrade, so I doubt you will find a 64GB Ipod Touch until September at least...

There's another rumour that the iPod Touch will be totally revamped and turned into a tablet device with a 9" screen.

    This site:

    http://guides.macrumors.com/Buyer%27s_Guide_(time-ordered)

tracks the time-since-last-change fpr various Mac and iPod/iPhone models. They reckon that the iPod Touch is "mid-product-cycle", ie, it was last updated in September and it's unlikely to be updated for another 3 months at least.

True, but capacity changes can happen mid cycle. It just won't get any upgraded and new hardware.....saying that, obviously a 64 GB version would require new hardware...

They haven't happened before - not to Touches anyway. And 32GB NAND flash chips are not yet mainstream.

Edit: Did you know that you can get a 32GB iPod Touch for 282 euro from dabs.ie? This is a lot cheaper than Apple (369 euro)!

Edit2: Actually just noticed dabs are now charging E285 for the Touch, but I ordered one on Wednesday for 282. They must track the sterling/euro difference daily!

They do :). Prices do vary daily but they are still in our favor given the weak sterling...

Yeah, I don't think we'll see any iPod Touch capacity bumps either until the "traditional" September iPod event. The new "big" iPod Touch-like device that is rumored may not be an iPod-class device (or even marketed as one) so that could still be announced (though announced does not mean available - remember the 6 month gap in announcing the original iPhone and then releasing it?).

    Not true,

Last year the ipod touch got a capacity bump to 32gb in january(or feb? not positive) after initially being available in 8gb and 16gb only.

Not that I think that'll happen this year though.

would say its a likely upgrade.

means they can hike the price up a good bit

mightnt make it to 64gb but wouldnt be suprised to see 45 or 50gb
