What monitor do you use ?

What monitor do you use to look-at/edit your photographs ? I reckon its important as if your monitor is off then your editing is going to suffer aswell.
I use a Dell 17' CRT, and I think its OK, ie. its contrast is good and when I print pictures (say to 8*6 size) the colors/contrast are very similar.
I also bought a (5 meter) cable (DVI to HDMI) to go from my graphics card on the PC to my TV (32' HD ready) but I don't like what I see there, ie. I think the TV isn't very contrasty, so images look a bit off ! Pity !

    So.....what do ye use ?
    What would ye recommend ?

Value for money, Dell have some cracking deals on monitors. I use a calibrated 24" Dell widescreen. Has served me well. They had a 23" widescreen for €186 delivered which has gone up to €207. Still a great price for 1920x1080 resolution.

I still use a 21" sony trinitron flatscreen CRT that I got from dell years ago for quite a hefty sum. Not quite as hefty as the monitor itself though, it has to be said. I still think that a quality CRT beats LCD flatscreens hands down.

Dead right a good crt still beats a lcd..... Same wit tellies - unless its hd1080 a good crt still beats the lcd..... Still youve got to take into account that crts were at the peak of there devolpment while lcd are only bout ten years old

Have my Acer AL1916W calibrated too..

That monitor is a biatch to calibrate and even then is inconsistent. It doesn't seem to like sRGB.

    +1

Using a Sony 21" Flat CRT since my days as a graphic designer. Best screen I've used since an EIZO 24" CRT back in '96 which was a serious piece of kit.

I do like the look of those new Apple 24" LED Cinema Displays, but I won't be ditching the CRT anytime soon.

I use dual HP LP2065 calibrated monitors. S-IPS monitors, great quality and were cheap enough too.

Calibrated LED Macbook Pro screen. It does the trick. But one day I hope to get a nice 24" screen one day soon.

I use a LG 22" monitor for the desktop. The laptop has a 15.4" screen but TBH I never use the laptop for any sort of image editing.
