96kHz PCI soundcard

    Guy,

Have my HTPC up and going a while now, mostly 720p TV via .mkv files through MPC and am getting 5.1 output via my generic ebay optical pci soundcard, all grand.

The problem lies with my BR/HDDVD discs as I use powerdvd 8.5 and it requires a 96kHz playback soundcard to carry surround sound to my amp and I'm having difficulties sourcing one these last few months.

Best I can find is at maplins and hardwareversand, would prefer optical output but with an additional purchase of a lead could live with a coaxial out card. These cards never seem to be in stock.

Vista ultimate 32bit O/S, bastardised vostro 200 with 9600GT half gig, 2gig ram

Any suggestions on where I could source a compatible sound card or an alternative route to enjoy 5.1 BR/HDDVD sound..

    TIA

The Maplins one looks ok, but I'd be inclined to try an Audigy, mine's being doing fine for quite a while, I use a 3.5 to RCA adaptor to connect for SPDif, it's grand.

ah fook it, didn't want to go mad splashing out more bucks but seeing as it's crimbo and all went for a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1, cheapest seemed to be Dabs, outside chance of having in time for Xmas, in any case should get over the festive season

I would go for the asus xonar if you can afford it. it is DTS compatable and would be great for bluray.

success, digital surround sound at last for BR/HDDVD

A question for all those Media Centre guru's out there, I have MC playing .mkv files with digital surround sound but there's a black bar surrounding the picture?

    Any ideas?
