Can anyone confirm that Aer Lingus are not refunding the fuel surcharge to people that have already paid it for upcoming flights? I had assumed that they wouldnt but was told that various American airlines were refunding and that Aer Lingus were following suit.

    Thanks

I could be wrong but as far as I know, they're not. If you booked your flight before a certain date (think it was the 12th), you would pay the stated fuel surcharge.

I'd say that Aer Lingus will be forced to start refunding the fuel surcharges quite soon as the fuel surcharge was specifically introduced due to the increased price of jet fuel, which was not covered by the fare charged. As the price has returned to a normal level the additional charge is no longer needed or justifiable.

Hopefully, somebody will take them to the small claims court soon

This is yet another example of the arrogance of the Aer Lingus board. They need to live in the real world. I really dislike MOL as a person, but I believe that a Ryanair takeover of Aer Lingus would be the best thing that could happen.

They didn't force it on people who booked before they introduced , so I woudln't expect them to refund on the other end.

Aer Lingus could argue that they have ordered a certain amount of fuel at the time of booking, therefore the price still stands.

Is this still the case? ie Aer Lingus are not refunding the fuel surcharge?

Where have you been for the past two weeks? It's a well-established fact that they are not.

Besides, flight prices havent really dropped since the fuel charge was dropped, have you actually repriced your flight on the aer lingus website to see if it has actually dropped in price??

The whole thing with the fuel surcharges is to lure customers in with lower headline fares. It really isent worth thinking about getting a refund.
