Ladies and gentlemen, and assorted other rabble.

Coming to you live from the snug in Yore Ma's (soon to be under new management), we bring you the second half of tonight's glittering BGRH entertainment double bill. All the votes have been cast and counted by an independent team of drunkards auditors, and it's now time to reveal who'll be going home tonight with one of these....em.....magnificent trophies.

    BU040_c.jpg

    And the winners are:

    Thread of the Year

A truly epic and legendary thread that provides every brother with the sort of advice they wished their father had given them - The Wit and Wisdom of Pa Trout

    Mod of the Year

He's the biggest, baddest, baldest mod around, it can only be - Brother trout

    Event of the Year

A cautionary tale of what happens when you mix religion with pub opening hours - The bar moving to the Pagan forum for Good Friday

    Non-BGRH Poster of the Year

Last year's winner Terry was such a tough act to follow that we needed two winners for this award - Honorary Brothers monkeyfudge / Wibbs

    Brotherette of the Year

Not just a pretty face, but also a mean rasher sandwich maker - Brotherette Lucy Lu

And now the most prestigious award of the evening, Brother of the Year

Given the choice between voting for someone who actually deserved it and avoiding having mindless violence perpetrated against them, most voters took the safer option - Brother smashey

Finally we have one additional special award tonight. This award recognises a Brother who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the service of the Brotherhood. A man who fed the masses in D2, although did not partake of the feast himself. A man who grew a dodgy moustache in the name of charity and then dyed it and his hair pink for added humiliation and a few extra quid. A man who is most comfortable when he's not upright, epitomising all that it good and brotherly. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the first recipient of the BGRH Lunchtime Achievement Award - THE RECLINER.

Thank you for your nominations and votes, and I'm sure you'll all join me in congratulating our winners tonight. Well apart from smashey, that is, he's going to be feckin' insufferable for the next year and you've nobody to blame but yourselves.

    Thank you and goodnight.

    Thank you, Brother Zaph.

*blows dust off book of clichés*

Well, what can I say? It certainly has been an eventful year for BGRH. We have had our ups, our downs, our rashers, our beer, but most of all, our laughs. As 2008 draws to an end, I hope you can look back as fondly on the year as I can, with a beer in one hand, a rasher sambo in the other and, all going well, a wimmins on your lap.

It has been a year where BGRH established itself as the social forum on Boards.ie, only to be overtaken by those pesky kids in the Nocturnal forum. Oh, and the Ladies Lounge. And no doubt, the little brats in the Clearasil and Horny forum. Don't get me started on that shower in After Hours. I'm not bitter.

And finally, I would just like to thank everyone who has made it possible, the BGRH regulars, the lurkers and the rest of you who can't really figure out why a bunch of older, overweight, balding men would sit at their computers pretending to drink beer in a pretend bar on the internet. Oh, and I would like to thank my parents for making me possible. Horrible thought. Oh, and God, and Harry Potter, not forgetting the Nolan sisters..........

    :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Worthy winners, one and all.

This is the first place on Boards where I, as a lowly n00b, felt like I was made welcome. And when I pop back in every now and again, I'm always guaranteed a good laugh. Everyone here is a legend in fairness.

I don't know what I would have done during porkgate without BGRH to keep me up to date with developments.

And, tonight, BGRH's crowning glory came in the form of raising €800 by letting a lunatic an outsider gain modship for a week.

Well done to all the winners and here's hoping for another great year next year.

    Well done all.

And well done to the pink chair recliner.

I never expected you to go as far as you did with the pink hair and tash. It was inspiring! (Well, inspiring in that I will never be inspired to do the same thing.)

Well it was at your behest that I went pink and I am glad I did

I raised a feck load of cash for a good cause (due to people being very generous) and did something I or other people never thought I would. It was kind of liberating

Must plot what to do next year to raise more cash

Don't worry Mr. Dunne, we're just the training ground for the next generation of brothers and brotherettes. Our younglings are not yet worthy of the glory of the bretheren, but their enthusiasm for beer drinking events shows potential.

I would like to congratulate all winners (including that Smashey fella, even though he did get his arse kicked when trying to invade our nocturnal domain), and would like to congratulate BGRH on a fantastic year.

The most welcoming forum I have been on on boards and I have always felt welcome in the bar for a pint, even though myself and nerin routinely wrecked the place every night in jd fueled binges. Welcoming a scrawny and long-haired youngster to his first ever boards beers was an act of great charity which I shall always appreciate (the fact I drink for a living saved my arse on that one tbh) and a nicer bunch of folks you couldn't wish to meet, even if I did get yelled at for forgetting the cookies :D

Congrats, happy holidays and a great new year, and my many thanks to you all :)
