Best Gym: Westpoint or Total Fitness? (Blanchardstown)

I need to join a gym and Westpoint and Total Fitness in Blanchardstown are the two candidates.

As of this evening, 17 December 2008, Westpoint is significantly cheaper: €275 for full annual adult membership while Total Fitness is charging €598 for full annual adult membership. Which of these gyms is best, and why? In particular, are there hidden charges in Westpoint? Do I have to pay each time I use the pool, jacuzzi etc?

I have read the previous thread about it here -http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-2055007254.html - but that was over two years ago so I suspect much has changed.

I will be using the gym chiefly to lose 30kg of weight and improve my fitness in order to run the Dublin marathon in October 2009.

I use Westpoint. Theres no jidden charges for the pool or jacuzzi or anything. Its got very good equipment and each cardio machine has a TV you can plug your headphones into. Only problem is it gets crowded fairly easy, the weights section does anyway because while it is very good, theres not alot of machines. The cardio machines never seem to be totally jammed, you'd probably always get a free machine.

Very nice gym indeed. Never been to Total Fitness
