Behringer bass amps

First off, i admit it. i made the colossal mistake of selling my ashdown rig (Evo 575w abm head, abm 4x10, abm 1x15 compact). now a few months afterwards, i'm getting restless and am thinking of joining a band again.

i'm looking for something with plenty of headroom and saw this http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/28417 rated at 2500w bridged!?!?! is this possible/realistic?

also, does anybody have any experience of behringer amps? a sound engineer that we used for our gigs wouldnt use a behringer desk if you paid him (and we were paying him). is there something inherently wrong with the brand?

No experience with their bass amps, but all the Behringer stuff I've tried has been useable, if somewhat fragile. Thet's about as far as I'd go with it. For the price of some of the Behringer stuff you get into the realm of the Ashdown MAG gear that has changed hands on adverts recently and I know I'd rather 300 watts of Mag power than 2500 watts of Behringer power.

wouldn't say there is anything inherently wrong with them as such, they're just a budget brand - and in this game nearly always you get what you pay for. I'm actually using a 2nd hand behringer bass combo at the minute, as my main rig is getting repaired, and its grand for the 100 euro I paid for it, altho I don't see it lasting too long... I'd go for a reliable, well built brand, with a smaller wattage for similar price..2500 watts is a ridiculous amount for headroom really!

true enough i suppose, 2500w seems to be a bit like the amp that goes to 11. might have to bite the bullet and swap that lovely explorer for an amp....:(

Sounds a bit nuts. It's probably peak wattage measured into 2 ohms or something. I wouldn't pay much attention to the wattage rating on any amp anyway. Measure with your ears. ;)

I've heard a few Behringer bass amps and not liked what I heard tonally, so I would exercise caution in any case. There isn't even a good reputation to go on so don't buy it on the internet without having heard it firsthand.
