Can anyone tell me why all standard design toastars are completely flawed... They don't toast the whole slice of bread. They always leave the top part un toasted... Why has nobody sorted this mess out? Will I ever get to really enjoy my poached eggs :( 'tis a cruel cruel world!!!

They taste better with fully toasted toast, eggs and normal bread just isn't the same.

Turn the toaster on it's side? I don't get it... IT would probably be a fire hazard. :P Is that your plan??? :P

Well, take your typical irish bread:

and instead of putting into the toaster standing upright, lie it on its side, could just work :pac:

Huh? GIve me a picture of the toaster you are talking about, the bread wont fit into my toaster on it's side... i'm confused... :(

Oh well, just use the grill!

Sandwhich bread and toasting bread, 2 different beasts altogether. Alternativly, cut the top piece from your slice before you toast it.

It's just not very convenient. You see, I am forgetful and the toast will probably get burnt.

Cutting off the top just isn't the same... We need bigger toasters to tell you the truth. Why are they so stingy anyway??? It's not like bread got bigger over the years, thicker maybe but not longer... christ...

Turn the toast upside down for a minute??

Tried it a few times, only thing happens is that you get the top part and bottom part done nicely, and the middle is horrible. I think the only solution to this is to make new taller toasters.

This is the reason Home Appliances are so empty.

Get one of those sandwich toasting pockets and stick your bread in it in the toaster.

The head is spread more evenly so it will toast your crusts nicely.

As a bonus your toast will actually taste like hotel toast!

If you're gonna moan about toast then you're not allowed eat it anymore. I have informed the proper authorities about this and they are on there way to your house to confiscate all bread and bread-type materials, including your girlfriend (as she contains bread-like amounts of yeast).

    It's your own fault

I've thrown out my toaster for this and a number of other offenses. Grill is yer only man.

Frak - I saw toasters and though this about BSG!

(Roll on Jan 16th. The latest round of new current webisodes will have to keep me amused till then)

How sad am I that I automatically think "toasters" are killer robots! :D

The toasters are not flawed - the bread is.

There are a number of options open to you OP:

If you have a 4-slice toaster you can easily insert the bread on its side for nice even toastiness. This is also possible with some bread slice types in some smaller 2-slice toasters.

Or, turn the bread upside down halfway through

Or, buy specific toasting bread (squarer, fits perfectly)

Or, use the grill. Though it takes longer, perhaps not so good for those rushed mornings. (An aside: I once started a fire making toast under the grill, quite embarassing)

Or, stop being a whingy wimp and just eat the ****ing toast.

I use a 4 slice toaster but like 4 slices of bread. so 2 slices sideways and 2 more squashed in upright. Then when almost toasted, i tear the top bit off the 2 upright slices and have a pre toast snack while toating finishes.
tbh, someone should make a proper f*cking toaster. I dont want to be going out buying special toasting bread.

its true, and they never to the same, toasting twice in a row..
still nice with a cup of tea.

But why do you have to do all 4 together? Why not just make 2, eat them, then while eating them make 2 more? Plus the last 2 will be lovely and hot instead of cold..
