Headphones for Monitoring

Right, first thing that will be said to me is 'Buy Studio Monitors'.

I have studio monitors, and I was supposed to be upgrading to Adam A7s atm but looks like my living arrangements next year mightn't be terribly conducive to ANY noise, so I'm having to look into the notion of spending the vast majority of my time mixing and monitoring doing so with headphones.

To that end, I have ~300. Whats a good set of all purpose cans that will last me for a couple of years?

Try the top of the line models from Sennheiser, Sony, AKG and Beyerdynamic. Those are the best makers IMO. Headphones are a personal choice, more so that speakers.

I use Beyerdynamic DT 150 for mic positioning and monitoring during tracking. I find them accurate, but they are not comfortable after about 3 hours. I find AKG K 271 to be the most comfortable. Sweeter sound too, but not quite accurate to my ears. They make a more padded model that is wonderfully comfortable, I can't remember the model.

AKG K701, very accurate (to my ears) and very comfortable

I have the Sony MDR-7506. They are very stuffy and warm in summer, but the sound out of them is really good.
