MTE SSC P7 900-Lumen 2-Mode LED Flashlight (18650), with these batteries, and this charger.

Also get this light, and one of these to mount the first light on the handle bars, and one of these (the inline one) to mount the second torch on your helmet if it's dark country roads you're on

    Exposure Joystick on the helmet.

    Almost like daytime........

Admitedly on full whack its very blinding (for others)

For that money you can get a Big Bang.

What's the throw like with that torch? Is it narrow or wide beam?

Fairly wide, surprisingly long. Certainly more than enough to use on it's own on unlit country roads

Yeah that sounds good. I'm looking for an accompaniment for the TK11, which has a very very intense narrow beam. Excellent for aiming at wind mirrors at night if I need to get a driver's attention, however not great fro lighting the road with a wide beam.

I use it in conjunction with a TK11 when out on country roads (sometimes with an L2D on the helmet), and it works great -overkill sometimes I think!

tbh, the ones linked above will be brighter and better, as well as cheaper! (around 45 euro for the stuff from deal extreme)

    Bike24.

For some reason I thought I saw a price of €550 a couple of weeks ago, but maybe I dreamt it.

The appeal of the Big Bang is the traffic-friendly beam pattern, which you won't get from a torch.

If only it was much cheaper.

That Cateye would probably be OK for around town but probably not so good on unlit roads. The Fenix TK11, batteries and charger (the latter from DealExtreme) will come in well below on price and provide a hell of a lot more light for you to see where you are going.

For a single light I would be tempted to go for a Fenix over the DX ones as they are probably more reliable and you ideally don't want a light to fail.
