"Road" Tax

Since the tomcollins thread has secretly diverted into other matters, I thought I'd share the results of a quick, unscientific study of taxation nomenclature in one Irish newspaper. A search of the Irish Times over the past year for the term "road tax" produces 224 results as compared with just 90 references to "motor tax" over the same period. Whether we like it or not friends, general discourse around motor tax seems to primarily regard it as "road tax".

Time for a campaign of letters to the editor(s) seeking correction?
