Removing background from images

I am finding this too hard, I googled and found some companies that do this sort of thing, has anyone tried them? Is clipping path the same as deepetching. http://www.deepetch.com seems to be one good one, I also saw http://www.rapidclipping.com/Photoshop_clipping/home.htm and http://www.ezyclipping.com. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing. My catalog has over 300 images of jewellery and jackets with fur fitted on manequins due in two weeks, all shot on a blue studio background. Do I require alpha channel masking? Can anyone help please?

It all depends on the image. If you use vector masks then the border between the subject and the background is sharp and distinct. But drawing such masks, and you have to trace each one out, requires a bit of skill and time, its almost like stitching.

Just replacing the blue with, say, white by using an alpha channel just removes the blue and may leave a less distinct border. But this method is very very fast and can even be automated and done in a matter of minutes to a reasonable degree of accuracy depending on the quality of your images.

Either method should be easy work for any competent photoshop user. The clipping mask would take longer tho. Perhaps you should ask the users of this forum to contact you via PM. Surely you should get a good price and may be able to split the job up to get it done quickly. I don't have the time at the moment unfortunately. You will pay more for the clipping mask approach.

Perhaps throw up an example so people can show you whats possible and then you can decide.

(edit: me thinks paragraphs are broken)

edit 2: perhaps ask over in digital art and design also.
