Essential Laptop accessories?

Hoping for some advice for things I can pick up in the sales.

Am getting a Inspiron 1525 which is arriving this week and it's the first time I've had a laptop as my main home computer. I'm getting a mouse with it, but apart from that I've gone for the no accessories option (no bag/speakers etc).

Just wondering if there is anything essential I will end up needing? I will use it on a table, but also on my 'lap' at times. Are there special bases available - I seem to remember reading about some kind of angled cushion to rest it on?

Anyway- any advice or suggestions welcome

    Cheers

    Jim

If you intend on carrying it around with you then buying a good bag might be worth your while. But other than that i can't think of any "essentials" that you can't live without. Your laptop will have adequate speakers grand for most things.
Hadn't heard of those "cushions" for resting the laptop on. But be very careful putting it on anything other than your table or lap. Putting it on a cushion/bed/couch, could block vents and cause it to overheat which could destroy your laptop.

A small mouse is the only extra i use. A wired one at that so i don;t lose it. :D

I gotta a laptop bag but never use it.

I can't think really major what you'd need to bring around with you but am all ears to find out having just purchased a new laptop. Maybe a tv-out cable? I guess a USB flash drive would be handy too for file transfers etc if you have a laptop with no CDRW drive. You could bang in some ethernet cable? some phone cable? a bluetooth adapter if your laptop doesn't have one? A car charger? Your mains adapter? A spare battery? One of those kensington lock things?

At home you could do with a nice clear desk, a nice big LCD to hook it up to, a decent mouse / keyboard for it...
