Need help with my speakers :(

    Hi guys,
I'm using Cubase SX 3 with an Access Virus Ti, and 2 KRK RP5's.

In Cubase, any VST I'm using, when I play fast succesive notes in it, the speakers go really really fuzzy - its not to do with the loudness of the notes - simply how quickly in succession I play them - which is really really weird...

My soundcard is installed fine, as is my keyboard. Just using a sound-blaster xfi gamer soundcard.

I have my Access Virus keyboard as my midi keyboard, going through the vst, then out through the keyboard to my speakers which are plugged into it.

Really weird - always worked fine, but since I reinstalled windows, its just not working liike it used to. The sample rate is fine, I have my Virus Ti as the Master Asio Driver.

    Any ideas guys?

Compared to what? We need to be scientific about this. You need to do an A/B test. Preferably blind.

Does the same thing happen with headphones? Does the same thing happen when you play a CD (from your CD player, not the PC) of fast notes?

ok - normal things work fine - ie. PC sounds, video games, films etc.

When using Cubase, it happens when using my monitors, and my headphones. Exact same thing happens - gets fuzz coming out of it - sounds like static - going to try using Reason now and see what happens

If that's the case then it's not the speakers ...

yea you're right - it must be something to do with my settings in Cubase if it doesnt happen in Reason or my soundcard settings?

I may have had the same problem.. when you get the fuzz does the music sound like it's slowing down a little? and cpu usage goes max on the transports bar/cpu meter?

no not at all actually - CPU usage stays below 5% and nothing slows at all :(

    The old Buffer?

Good call, check the latency in the cubase menu - if it's 40ms or lower try raising it and see if they go.

Tried that - unfortunately, its still happening.

    Total input latency is: 35ms
Total output latency is : 64ms

Tried changing it to other options (asio driver) etc., but its still occuring and the latency was higher.

    Any other ideas?

    haha cheeky :P

Nope tis a PC - and just sorted out the issue. Basically my Virus ti keyboard, has a control panel in the vst audiobay in the device setup panel.

I had to set the system performance to high, rather than very low which is what it was currently on for some reason...:)

All working fine now and no problems :)

    Cheers guys
