loss of power

    Hi gang.

    I have a problem with power on my computer. I can start it up and log on to my pc but after a minite or two it powers down fully for no reason like as if someone pulled the plug out. any ideas gang.
    any help much appreciated.

    Could be overheating. Either that or you have got a pretty bad trojan like i had a few months ago. nightmare to get rid of!!

    Sounds like your pc is overheating.

    Pull the plug and hit the power button a few times. Open the case and check the metal finned heatsink that should be around the centre. Try to blow any dust out. Do not give it a wipe or try move it with anything metal.

    It could be a virus alright. But it just shutting down all of a sudden would make me think its overheating. Op do you notice it shuts down quicker if you start using more Cpu intensive programs or games? When it does shut down do you notice and applictions closing down first? Also is your anti virus up to date same with any drivers like graphics and sound card.
