    1.0

Shimano 105 is a step up from the Tiagra

I am happy owner of Storm 1.0! I had the same dilemma one month ago but i decided to go with the more expensive Storm 1.0. I am happy enough with the bike. I use it for commuting and for rides on the weekend and i have almost done 350kms. No problems so far apart from now that its really really dirty i can't seem to be able to change to the smallest chainring.. I hope its just the dirt :D

When you are putting the bike together be extra careful as you put the handlebars on the stem, it can get scratched really easily.

Hope you 'll enjoy it! :-)

I'd got for the 1.0 too.

But what I really want to know is who set up those bikes in the photos? Sean Yates?

I am also looking at the 1.0 but I am wondering if I am wasting my money getting it. I have a Specialized Allez double, only have it about 4 months, but am loving been back in the saddle after been out of it for over 10 years.

I dont know a whole lot about parts and different frames, besides the full 105 set is on the beOne, the Allez has a mix of both sora and tiagra and I know that the 105 is better. Would I be foolish to invest so soon or is the beOne alot better than the Allez.

    Thank all

the frame on the allez would arguably be superior to the BeOne. yeah, 105 would be a better drive train but to be honest you'd be upgrading from one fairly entry level aluminium bike to another fairly entry level aluminium bike. if i were you i'd save my money and either wait until you're ready to buy a significantly superior bike or, alternatively, put some of the money you've earmarked for the BeOne and upgrade some parts on the Specailized.

while a new drive train might make things a bit slicker and shifting a bit quicker an upgrade there won't have a big effect on actual speed. the tiagra rear derailer is pretty decent, though it might be nice to get some tiagra STIs to get rid of those horrible feckin thumb buttons on the sora ones? perhaps a nice light wheelset? that would actually make you go faster . or a full carbon fork to shed a few grams?

Thanks a million, thats exactly the info I was looking to get. In that case i'll stick with what I have for the moment and maybe closer to the Summer I will upgrade to a better bike.

Im thinking about getting the 1.0 as a first road bike; from what I can make out it seems like pretty good value. The main thing holding me back is figuring out what the appropriate size is, and the inability to actually try it out for size before buying it.

My inseam is 80cm, and using the multiply by .675 rule I've seen on a few websites that puts me at 53.6 (so 52, i guess). But that's for classic frame geometry, isn't it? Would the frame sizes listed be given in classic sizes for ease of choice?

Would it be overkill to pay the cyclesuperstore to size me for this and give me some advice? (that bikefitting.com service - 70quid!).

It;d be a fair update -but this would be better if you are suitable for a 50cm -it's last years model, but is Ultegra rather than 105 (which is a better groupset)

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31039

It has the full 105 on it aswell. My budget is between €1000 and €1200

    Any thoughts

Well I actually took your advice and I upgraded to a full Ultegra SL groupset for my Specailized. Am having it fitted tomorrow. I'll see how I progress over the next couple of months and then I'll look at buying a carbon frame if I am still as hocked as I am now. Considering I am only back in the saddle 3 months now, I felt it was a bit to soon to be spending €1500+ on another bike after only 3 months since I bought the Specailized.

Thanks to all who offered me advice.
