Budget 4x12"

So my mammy and daddy, have decide they'd buy me a head for Christmas, but heads being as expensive as they are, thats all I'm getting.
So instead of getting presents of the siblings and the likes, when they ask me what i want I'm saying money so i can buy a cab to actually play the head through.

I reckon with money I'll get and a bit of saving I'll be spending about €150-€250 on a cab, needless to say I'm not looking for anything amazing at this time, and i'll upgrade when i actually get a bleedin' job.

    So...
Recommendations for a inexpensive 4x12", i like something with a good bit of body in it, but with out it getting muddy.

I know i could get better a 2x12" for that money, but tbh, i probably won't be using the cab more than six months, so im not overly worried about it being great quality, and i am not liking the idea of a 2x12" right not at all.
Once something gets set inm y head, your not going to change my mind, saddly...

Have searched adverts and gum tree, but nothing for me there.

So yeah anyway, rambling at this stage, any advice on what to look at?

    Thanks,
    Cian.

What Head did you get? And like you said, i'd be getting a 2*12 cab myself, better quality and it'd probably be easier to sell 6 months down the line.

    2 quick questions:
    1) Where will you be playing that requires a 4x12 cab
    2) Do you have transport for that 4x12 for when you need to rehearse/gig?

Not offially mine yet, but i have come to an agreement with a guy on adverts for a peavey XXX.

I know a 2x12" really is my better option, but im thinkin volume wise, the other guitarist in my band has a mesa/boogie tripe rectifier, so if i've any hope of not being drowned out by him...

But i may be wrong, could i get the same volume with a decent 2x12"?

Good point on the first one, i probably wouldn't need the 4x12" for pub gigs and the likes, but there is a van handy for transport.

A decent 2x12 will probably seem louder than a budget 4x12.

If you play any gig in a decent venue, your amp will be miked anyway. You don't need to be louder than the other guitarist - you need to be heard over the drummer. Lugging 4x12s up stairs is not fun, even less so after you've been playing for a few hours.

    I'd go for a 2x12.

It will be easier to lug around, will still fit a full-sized head, better quality if you're spending the same budget, and honestly, you're very unlikely to have any projection/volume problems.

Laney GS212IE. €225 on thomann, but I havent done any other searching at all, so do that yourself and see if you can bag it cheaper (in the UK etc).
