Some good recognition for cycling in the SPOTY... Brailsford won best coach, the British Cycling Team got best team, and Chris Hoy managed to beat Hamilton to the top spot of Sports Person of the Year!

    Well deserved too. Congrats Chris!

Very briefly, in a recap of British cycling, but he wasn't there I don't think

I'm not surprised Cav wasn't there.

Fair play. He comes across as a nice bloke too. Good night for British Cycling.

me neither. can't help but feel sorry for the guy (even though i don't actually like him), the way he dominated in the TDF is totally overshadowed by the trackies, which has to hurt. are he and wiggins back on speaking terms even?

it's great to see cycling getting a better profile in the UK, but i'd be even more pleased if they acknowledged the existence of little things like, eh, the grand tours? no?

    Fixed for ya. :)

Agree though, they talked to her about her Olympic medal, but didn't even mention the Worlds! Fair enough that the beeb focus on Beijing, but to not even mention she's a double champion is criminal.

He got a lifetime achievement award. Just general standing ovation/welling up over it. Nice touch that they got Jack Charlton to give his wee brother the award. Nice moment

They mentioned it in some prologue I thought? Very much glossed over it though.

Was nice to see a bit of reconciliation between the 2 of them alright.

Delighted for Hoy, funny some bookies had stopped taking bets on Adlington and Hamilton was clear second favourite. Never underestimate a bit of Partizanship.... (in this case the Scots voted in force)

    Who came 3rd?

fairly sure they mentioned the worlds in the round up of cycling didnt show a clip (suprising considering the beeb had it on live on interactive) seriously cool how cycling pretty much swept the board, i was stunned when hamilton got runner up just shows how fed up people are with F1 though.
Nicole cooke was never in the running to win though (even if i think mass start races are prob much harder to win ?), she just hasnt got the coverage hoy has got and lets be honest what uk cycling has managed to do in the last few years is pretty astounding and we'll see now if they manage to do it on the road which seems to be the next target. hamilton looked totally gutted typical winner even hated coming second in that.

    Stats from Sunday Times:

Circumference of Chris Hoys thigh = 27inches
Posh Beckams waist = 23 inches.

    His top speed = 44mph

    Apparenently he can squat 500lbs

Hard earned statistics, thats for sure.
