    Hey,
Im getting a pair of boots this week as a Christmas present but obviously have to pick them out myself.
Want to get a dark brown pair.
Iv had a look at a few of the sites for stores in Dublin, like Schuh, River Island, Office.
Any recommendations or pics on a decent boot type for guys? Im not sure what to go for.
And how should i wear them? Jeans tucked in them, or over them?

If you're dead set on getting a pair of brown shoes, then these in River Island are awesome.

Would go awesome with a nice pair of straight, boot cut jeans. To be honest though, shoes are one thing I would never buy online. Its something you really have to try on yourself. I know they have this exact pair in the two Belfast stores, so Id assume they also have them in the Dublin branches.

I've seen nice boots for men in River Island recently. But definately wear any boots you get under jeans. I don't really think guys can get away with jeans tucked into their boots.

M&S doing a brown laced ankle boot for about €90 thats very nice/smart rather then a hiking boot. If you want to go a little more upmarket then try a pair of Loakes or Barkers from Arnotts...€200+

"Dont wear your trousers tucked in ... Oh i cant stand that look."

Oddly enough, men wore their trousers tucked into their boots for...oh...about 3 000 years. Up to the 1930s in fact. I wonder why it's suddenly a 'no, no'?? And they can "get away" with anything if they have the confidence and stop listening to ultra-cautious stuff.

I agree with the self confidence. If you have the confidence you can wear patterned jacket, shirt AND tie all at the same time. If you have the confidence you can wear that pink jumper. But the only occasions to wear trousers tucked into boots is when you are horse-riding, stalking deer or playing golf, or perhaps at an open air gig during an Irish summer and the boots are wellingtons.

They sell Loake chelsea boots in Arnotts or Clarks. Expensive, but damn fine quality; they'll last you forever, not like the cheap tat at Topman or River Island. Hand made, too.

Here here!! A friend of mine recently bought some boots and he tucks them into his jeans, I admit it sounds terrible but they look ultra cool on my mate. I think its the way he carries himself, confidence and charisma oozes out of him.

"But the only occasions to wear trousers tucked into boots is when you are horse-riding, stalking deer or playing golf,...."

Well, I'm sure that Michael Collins, Cathal Brugha, Saladin, Charles the First, D'Artagnan and the gang,Keats, Shelly and Byron,Napoleon,The Abbasid Caliphs,Robert E.Lee, Tolstoy,Peter the Great,George Washington, the Duke of Wellington and a few others would be interested to hear that. But sure, what would they know? Yes, I guess they looked really ghastly. :D

And how many of the above list would have been wearing boots for horse-riding? The rest were probably keen golfers. :D

Formal, as previously said Loakes are very nice.Casual i think Timberland Earthkeepers look good but the sole is poor so don't think they offer value for money.
