BTEA , GRANTS INFO HELP :D

    Hey there , I have looking at student Finance and reading various website regarding this issue , So I would appreciate if someone could clarify my situation for me.

    Break down : I return from travelling in May 2008 , I was out of the country for 23months in total. I signed on as soon as i got back. I then recieved a part time job and continued to use my stamps to sign on part time while i was looking for full time work.

    I got offered a place at college starting on 8th of september this year , I didnt apply for a grant as I had been to college before received a full grant the 1st year then i repeated 1st year again and dropped out at X-mas. So basically ws told that I wouldnt be entitled to it so didnt apply.

    When I started back at college I signed off on my part time benefit and Didnt apply for a back to school allowance.

    Now after reading various Forums and website it seems that I might of been entitled to the BTEA and still work part time. I think I have gone about things the wrong way and when I start into my second year in September 2009 I wont be able to apply for this BTEA ?

    I shall be signing on in the summer when college breaks up in may and looking for full time work again until I start back in September.At that stage I will be signed on again over 5months.

    Can someone please clarify for me should i be entitled to any BTEA , Grants , rent allowances , Tax credits.

    You were signing on from May 08 to Sept 08? you aren't entitled to BTEA.
    You aren't allowed sign on in the summer break from uni either.

    You need to be signing on for more than 12 months to get the BTEA as for the Grants and other areas www.qualifax.ie may have some info.

    You're entitled to apply for the regular grant from your second year onwards though, as you didn't finish your previous course and got a grant only for first year. Not the BTEA I'm afraid.

    Ive actually just gone back over and read this thread :-) WHOOAA Also called up the local VEC which also confirmed this..
