I find once it get's passed the audition parts and goes onto the live shows I get bored of it. What's the point in watching people achive their dreams? I want to watch people fail and get insulted.

Hate the f-ing thing! I prefer musicians who sing their OWN music! Not the likes of Leona Lewis who just ruins every song she bloody sings! Why 'run' is number one i will never know, the snow patrol version is thousands of times better and afaik that never got #1 spot

I was out in the pub with my mates 2 weeks ago, it's a busy suburban pub, and at one point in the night, around 70% of the people in the pub stand up and start zooming into the flatscreen TV above the bar, I couldn't believe it, they wanted to see who was voted off X-Factor!?!?!?!?!?!

How people get absorbed into this is literally beyond me!

I feel sorry for you that you actually think that the number 1 slot and good music have anything to do with each other. Everyone knows(or should know) that its really easy to buy number 1's for publicity.

Eh, they do sing their own music. On the show they don't, but it's a bit obvious why, isn't it? You're a bit dim if it's not.
Secondly, I'd like to know how Leona Lewis "ruins" every song she sings when she's only released one cover? Add that to the fact that she's a ****ing incredible singer and you're making yourself look a little silly to anyone who knows anything about music. Regardless of what you think about the show, Leona is as good as they come. Criticising her shows a certain 'I-don't-care-how-stupid-I-look-I-just-want-to-pretend-I-hate-X-Factor-so-I-look-cool' attitude. It's funny, everyone claims to hate it, yet it is one of the most watched programmes in the country. Seems like some people are just bull****ters.

Oh, and regarding "Run", Snow Patrols version is class. I love Snow Patrol, but they're never going to beat Leona when it comes to singing. Leona has also had much more exposure and I'm sure there were alot of people who heard "run" for the first time and thought it was by Leona. That said, I'd actually prefer Leonas version. Oh, and to be clear, she never intended to release it. She had to perform a cover on Live Lounge and she chose that song. People went crazy over it and wanted her to release it.

The x factor was very good this year, at least the person who should have won it did win it, not like last year. If you dont like it then just switch over to to that strictly come dancing thing on the bbc. Now that I think of it I remember that i did come while dancing one time , but it was a long time ago and the babe i was dancing with has long since lost her looks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Oh I'm delighted it's over. The real winner each year is Simon Cowell. It's phony, manufactured pap and I've no idea why people continue to fund it.

It's ruined the race for the Christmas number one as well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭DaBreno

Didnt mind so much as it kept her indoors rapt to the TV so as I could move about my machincations freely.

Tonight it tried to get in the way of Barca V Real. Much nashing of teeth, much xfactor gone unreported. Barca won 2-0, good game.

One thing I would mention is the presenter cock states at the RESULT stage : "this is what dreams are made of". I asked herself what became of previous winners. She replied "**** All". The whole series seems to be the triumph of hope over reality.

It obviously makes a few quid though for Cowell though.

Anyone notice how the show is always planned to finish so the winner will have a shot at (and usually get) the Christmas number one? And even if you don't win you're still in with a chance of getting out there like that freaky brother/sister duo incestually singing love songs. It's an insult to real singers and bands who work their asses off to get to the top and is one of the shows responsible for all the trailer trash television over the last decade.

+1 altho im not cynical about the show, i happen to like it as its good to watch with my family, the same way all ireland talent show if done right will be.

take laura izibor from dublin for example, u'll have people being like ZOMG ALEXANDRA, but imo laura is a much more brilliant unique original singer than alexendra but difference is she's working her way up the right and often hard way(performing or performed with aretha franklin in NYC this week:)

This year it has had such a draw in Ireland that Galway City was really quiet tonight until it was over.

Only then did the pubs start filling up.

What has the world come to...

whenever i hear "singers" from this kind of show they always sound like stage school kids to me (some a lot better than others)

They sing like people who belong in the west end not in music/bands

"Pick one note and stick with it"

I heard yer man Rydian(?) murder "the impossible dream" and it gets press like its class and sells sackfulls

This kind of Music is like TV, stuff aimed at audiences who dont know what they are watching is ALL fixed/set up, the panel fights in xfactor lol:o
People who follow those shows dont realize that its all an act:D

If anyone say the show on ch4/e4 with Harvey Goldsmith called
"Get Your Act Together with Harvey Goldsmith", yer wan from dublin was on it Samantha Mumba.
He asked her to set up a live gig so he could hear her and she admitted that she had NEVER played live with a band in her life (show had some really bad set up pieces)

Thats the kind of people who play in that show, just ignore them and as for the charts,
when had the charts anything to do with proper/real music?

As for the xmas single, this is the time "people who dont buy music" buy music(also called the 3 cd a year buyer market i think!?) , so this is when they have to make their killing, +xmas single sells more than anything else all year, charts are not hard to get into if you have a machine like cowell behind you, buys airplay etc, btw single sales are tiny when compared to years ago, probably because of stuff like this!?

I agree that the xfactor is a bit over the top (contestants crying, the way it's edited and all that) but it's good entertainment and some of the contestants that have been on it over the years have been brilliant. For people who don't watch the show (apparently) ye seem to know an awful lot about it! Just don't watch it if you don't like it!

I'm sorry it justs annoys me when people go on about these contestants not being talented because they don't write their own songs and play their own music. What's wrong with just being a brilliant singer?...There have been some amazing talents over the last 5 or 6 years from across all the reality music shows. Sorry that's just my own opinion....:)

My local had it blaring last night. Ended up heading home for a few cans with friends.

I have to say pubs have been pretty empty on Saturdays in recent weeks. I wonder will it pick up again now.

    Way to dodge the question...

Well firstly, It's a nice break from the doom and gloom of the usual TV we see now,
I love music and this year had a great amount of vocal talent,
It's great entertainment. And I liked it so much this year because of the talent and I am glad a deserving winner won.

Not much more really but that's enough, I can see why people mightn't like the music but I don't get why people get so bad over it.

Oh great, I already guessed it would be some speech of how this is not "Real music" and no offense but you cannot compare them to Samantha Mumba when she was a musician at a time when singing live was not important i.e the 90's Pop groups etc, I saw it and was hardly shocked...
And that comment about them not singing live? Ermm... what do you think they do every week? Mime?

I hate the irish mentality that is you need an instrument to be a musician,
They are all very talented voalists and what they are singing is "real" music just because it wasn't made 30 years ago by some stoner gutarist doesn't make it not REAL music.

I don't get what you mean by the public arefooled for this, Stop trying to find a conspiracry theory for a fecking Entertainment show, Of course things off backstage but who cares, You would be stupid to not think it and I hardly dount it would be anything big or it would be mentioned just like 2 years ago that girl got thrown out for bullying.

Get over yourself and get the pole out from your arse!

    How is it?
It is in no way different, What do you think they do?
Go in audition just the once, sweep through bootcamp(2 performances) then relax all day in the judge's houses?
Oh and I'm sure the live shows are a breeze:rolleyes:.

If anything they have it just as bad or worse, Being judged by millions weekly,
Showing them at highs and lows internationally. Even if someone like Beyonce came from a talent show people would still have SOMETHING to complain about.
