    Hi all,

I bought a Wii today for the kids for Christmas. I have Wii Play and Mario Kart, granny is buying FIFA 09 (6.5 year old is obsessed with Ronaldo) so the next question is do I buy Mario Galaxy or Paper Mario - he has a 4 year old brother.

I have zero interest in video games and have no clue, so this might be the best place to get some advice.

    thanks
    aoa

btw I bought the machine on a deal in Gamestop so I have 2 steering wheels 2 controllers and 2 nunchucks.

Without question, Mario Galaxy. Not only the greatest wii game, but one of the greatest computer games in 5 years

Good call on Mario Kart! an excellent multiplayer game!

From my experience of Mario Galaxy. i'd definitely say to get it! I've never played Paper Mario but Mario Galaxy is good because the second player cant really play together as a second character but the wiimote can be used to collect the little star bits, a good introduction for a 4 yr old to the Wii until he/she becomes better at it! its also not really aimed at one particular gender which helps everybody join in!

Paper Mario has ALOT of reading, so bear that in mind. I'd go for Mario Galaxy.

Animal Crossing kids love that game

Yep, Mario Galaxy, no doubt about it. It's a far better game with much broader appeal

or something where they can't die like one of the Lego games, Star Wars should be coming down a bit in price now, my 6+5 y/o's get great craic out of it, SM Galaxy can get a bit tough for them after the first few levels so I have to get them by bits, if you are not game savvy then you might not like having to do this

Mario Galaxy gets tough quite quickly, my 6 year old only managed to get through half the game and that was with quite a bit of frustration.

He got Paper Mario last Christmas (at age 5) and yes, there is a lot of reading in it, but he played the entire game.

I would second the Lego Starwars Complete Saga recommendation, very low frustration levels and would recommend that above the other two for a 4 year old :)

Animal Crossing would not be suitable for a 4 year old, imo, limited play value and repetitive for a child so young.

Get Paper Mario. At least he might improve his reading abilities. Mario Galaxy is tricky. Some of the upside down level parts take a bit of getting used to.

Thanks for all the feeback guys, I'm gonna go for Mario Galaxy and that's a great idea about Lego Star Wars, Christmas is starting to get expensive !!!

ha ha - that's a good one, when he was sent off the other week I was dancing around the kitchen laughing and the six year old was bawling crying - and get this - I was the one who was told to cop on by our ruler.

I have now resolved the tension by overhauling my fantasy football team and putting Ronaldo in my midfield - he hasn't scored since, now he's off to Japan and I'm on the receiving end of some very heavy slagging in the office - the things a parent will do for his children !!

OP Mario Galaxy would be a bit tricky for a 4 year old and whislt I haven't played it Paper Mario does appear to have a lot of reading, it is an RPG after all.

I'd agree with the recommendation of one of the lego games, Star Wars or Batman being the best. For kids of that age its perfect.

The puzzles in Lego Batman are quite complicated and long drawn out for a young child, not so at all in Lego Starwars. Lego Indiana Jones seems to be middle of the road :)
