Not sure if this is in the right section so feel free to move .

Im just wondering if droping a gbb mag whilst reloding is very bad for the mag . i.e pressing release button and letting it fall to the floor .

    Regards,

    Sean

it looks good in the movies but not in airsoft not only could you break off the plastic part where you put the bb's in you could damage the gas valve and the any gravel gets into it or on it and you dont clean it it could end up in your barrel and break that or/and your hop up.many other things could happen.its just a very bad idea.my mate broke the top of his mag when he was reloading it haha

Well dropping anything in fairness isn't going to do much good!
Most mags will take a beating, however some metal magazines have a plastic butt plate which can crack if they hit a stone floor. You also run the risk of the magazine inverting in flight and snapping off the feeding lips at the top when it hits the ground.

In general its usually fine to drop magazines into grass, but it makes more sense to drop them into your opposite hand than risk them being damaged on the ground.

Sean man I know the feeling, I'm always having those urgers to dramatically drop a mag out, reload it steven segal style, while a flock of doves fly over me. :)

As stated above, it may cause you problems ( and if you bring your jg 18c mag into us ill burst ya >:P ) plastic midcaps, suprisingly, seem to take the best beating, mainly i guess cause they havnt got as much moving parts as hi caps.

On the subject, Dr.Pepper, has an amazing imagination for things that look **** hot and cool ( referring to his dual wielding m16s and "the hero walk") but he mentioned one day about me duel wielding, that it would be dramatic when i run outa ammo to throw my pistol to the side, spin around and take out my second pistl.

I did this with a kj m9, and the thing was grand afterwards.

I'd say in grass and soft surffaces you will be ok, its not something id advise on wood or concrete though, but hey, ****it, a new mag is only a few brick, be dramatic, be **** cool...be a hero :)

I just tape over the mag..
Only have the one mag so only reload in between games so it's not trouble.

Best advice I've heard all day = D
I don't intent in mentioning my glock to anyone involved in eirsoft - they've heard enough about it :D

Hmmmmm Well yeah full metal gbb mags I wont worry about but then again valves and stuff. Not to mention that they hold more gas than bb's so if i was to drop to , It would still have gas in it . . . . . Hmmm ....so hero it is then :) (I'll be dropping the old mag with the broken seal)

    Cheers for the help :D

Never drop pistol mags. They're gas tanks with a delicate set of fill and release valves, a follower mechanism and a feeder nub which is fragile and usually very hard to get replacement parts for. There's a chance it could be ok dropping it by accident, but deciding to do it on purpose is the slippy slope to damaged mags and a costly repair/replacement.
You can get away with it in movies because RS mags are nothing more than a metal housing with a sprung follower. There's nothing delicate about them. Similarly midcaps/lowcaps/realcaps can be dropped without much care as there's just as little moving parts in them. Hicaps however, suffer the same fate as gbb mags when dropped, ie. likely damage and malfunction.

Thinking more John Woo style than Steven Seagal with the flock of doves.:D

Can just picture him doing the Matrix lobby shootout, dual wielding, throwing the empties away, reaching under the leather coat, pulling out another pair and on.

With this cold weather you can get the bullet time effect with a GBB no problem.:D

Theres a plan for me to get myself two colt walker pistols ( from outlaw josey wales) for sometime in the next 18 months, 12 bbs between two pistols, and its going to have to be dramatic

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is the statement of the week.
