Bought Green diesel to day for 47.5c/l including Vat. Tempted by the the price I filled a spare tank as well just over 2700 ltrs. in total.

The lorry driver said it will most likely rise in the New Year

might be worth your while topping up

We got green diesel yesterday for 43c per litre. Got 2000 litres, can't see it getting much cheaper, although the delivery man said that he recons it should stay the same price for a while. Got it from Parkes Fuels, Sligo. Interestingly, when diesel was at its peak, we got 1000 litres for €860 - yesterday it was exactly half the price - hopefully we will see the price of road diesel come down at the pumps soon too.

Its already @ 89-90c a litre (appears to be cheapest in Carlow and some areas of Dublin). The bulk of this is government tax and duties- so while it may potentially fall a little further, the potential for further reductions are mitigated by the high tax take :(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that approx 60c per litre of road diesel is taken in tax???

It was my understanding that its 68c- but please correct me if I'm wrong.
This means that less than 25c is currently being shared by the retailer, the distributor and the refiner per litre, including all production costs........
