Spec for my laptop are in my sig.

Its been doing this on startup (not sure when during startup, but im pretty sure its before windows starts loading) for about 3 months now. About 1 in every 5 start ups.

Having already read about the well known dodgy 8400 and 8600 series graphics cards that dell use (and will fail at some stage) I only assuming its the early symptoms.

Anyone seen this before? Or have any input at all?

Looks like a faulty graphics card alright. Unlikely to be a software issue if it's happening before windows loads.
Plug in an external monitor and see if you get the same result.

    Knew id get that tip.
No external monitor on me, heres hoping it does the same thing tomorrow morning in college.

Actually, last time i did have it connected to an external monitor it was flickering a bit, and the screen (external) would turn off, as if no signal input, for a second or 2.

Wonder will dell replace it for me? Again... my first 1500 was shocking me so they gave me a 1510
