Costs of a Boxing Club

Is there anyone on here involved in the running of a boxing club or has knowledge of this sort of thing? What are the average yearly costs of keeping a club running, ie insurance etc? This would be on the assumption that the coaching would be voluntary. I'm wondering about the costs of a small club. How does a club go about getting registered with IABA etc, what considerations need to be taken in setting up a club?

Thanks for any help anyone might have

The affiliation fees to the iaba are 525euro per year. This includes insurance. The payment is due every may. Re rents, lights etc every club varies. If you need any more info just shout. Also make sure to get on to your local council about grants etc.

    thank you for your reply

it will be a college club, rent and electricity etc wont be an issue. I reckon the coaching will be handled by students or staff with decent boxing experience in the early days. This should all keep the costs down. Our considerations would be insurance, iaba registration and the initial start up costs of getting equipment etc. So annual costs will amount to 525? Thats not as bad as I imagined. Would there be much more expenditure on top of this?

I would imagine the start up costs might be high. We would need to get our hands on a few hook and jab pads, bag mitts and sparring equipment at the very least. Beyond that, a few skipping ropes and a bag or two would seem necessary also. Hopefully I might find someplace we could get a deal on buying in bulk. I know Mick Dowling has a shop here in Dublin, maybe someplace like there might be the place to go.

Check out argos.ie they have some basic equipment at reasonable prices.

Other than that I always go with ergo. They do be in the stadium any time there is a championship on............ring them on Tel: 0151 5237805 and they will let you know the next time they will be around and also to send you a catalogue..........very reasonable prices and always throws in a few things extra if buying in bulk.

BTW best of luck with it.
