Bit late posting, as its been extremely busy, but better late than never. We had training Friday nite, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday nite involved working on the 3 of 9 Template, with a lot of defensive work against the Template, training modifiers to install better and more efficient responses from the feeder and receiver. We moved onto some Silak which is some of the empty hand methods of the system and blade counters to blocks and grabs on the knife hand, which is always a real eye opener to people who have not trained in Sayoc before. Most people found the three hours of material more than enough.

Saturday morning began at 11am and we went straight into blade handling protocol, passing blades and then went onto grips (of which there are a lot in Sayoc and each has a fundamental purpose). We moved into more work on 3 of 9 Template and Transitional Drill 1 again using training modifiers to help install the information and help the application of the material within the sets. After lunch we spent the remainder of the afternoon session working on stick V knife with the material concentrating on the stick side of the equation. Tuhon emphasised the importance of remaining at long range and constantly taking out the knife hand and next immediate target was the eyes. We also worked counters and how to regain the range to attempts to close or if the knife guy tried to shoot to grappling range. Last portion of the day was instruction in how to use the stick as a projectile and Q+A's.

Sunday morning began at the same time again with some very interesting material namely how to spot/profile someone carrying a blade(s), how they move/act and how they deploy the weapon from a concealed position. Then we moved onto how to stop them deploying the blade and neutralise them. Next part of the morning session was Sikaran (Filipino kicking) with some nice additions to the art, including using the art with improvised weapons:). After lunch we moved into the area of Panantukan (Filipino boxing) but worked it from an empty perspective first before moving onto working the sets with a blade. Once again a fantastic weekend's training with one of the leading Sayoc instructors. The whole weekend was a learning experience with lots of information from Tuhon Tom not only in the seminar but during lunch/dinner and every chance we had.

    Hey Dave,

That sounds like it was an awesome weekend, sickened I had to miss it. The Sikaran and Panatukan sound good, I'll have to make time and go through some of that with you. Any ideas when Tuhon Tom will be back in the UK?
