    Well, maybe not!
Gilroy's Dubs to get charitable this Christmas

Dublin's senior footballer will sleep out over night in Dublin's city centre this Saturday and undergo a 24-hour fast in order to raise money for charity.

Pat Gilroy and most of his squad will stay out beside Arnotts in Dublin's city centre, with their fast beginning at 10am on Saturday and finishing at 10am Sunday morning.

Players and management will be signing jerseys and posing for photographs and accepting contributions for both the Peter McVerry Trust and St Vincent De Paul.

The party will drink only water over the course of the fast, with most of the Dublin squad expected to be in attendance.

However, a round of AFL promotion and relegation matches on Sunday will prevent all from taking part.

"At this time of year it is important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves," said Tomás Quinn about the fast.

"By taking one day out from the festive consumption we hope to raise funds and awareness for St Vincent De Paul and Peter McVerry Trust."

This is a brilliant gesture by the Dublin footballers and management for two very worthwhile causes. Fair play to them!:)

Fair play to them. I'm sure they'll get a good mix of support and banter from passers by.

This is nothing new. Haven't we all see players from many counties fall asleep on the field of play? :)

Fair play to the Dubs though. Unfortunately I was not able to get in and see them that weekend.
