Hmm..you're not going to like this but you could take a knife to the soles and just put some shallow marks on them:eek: You won't see them when you walk anyway and eventually they will get scuffed from use

maybe it was just the floor in BT's? I know alot of shoe shops have tiles and they tend to be slippy ..

don't own a pair myself.. yet

    something like this might help.

    http://www.summersoles.com/shop_heartstopper-no-slip-shoe-pads.htm

If I was spending that much on a pair of shoes I wouldnt be happy if they were slippy!

€525 for a pair of frigging shoes ?

    Seriously ???

Your money & all, but you could spend half that amount (still outrageous BTW) give the balance to charity and walk with your head held high.

christian louboutin shoes are over hyped, overpriced & are ridiculous looking.

Man, the difference €525 would make to some people's lives, especially at this time of year.

Have a read of this post, then go buy your shoes.

    Merry Christmas.

And who are you to insinuate what the OP can and cannot spend her money on?
Who are you to say what is and is not a reasonable amount of money for a pair of shoes?
What may look rediculous to you may be stunning to someone else.
For all that you know the OP may give very generously to charity and has every right to spend her money how she pleases.

Your post iMax is incredibly condescending and righteous.

    To address your points

Who am I to insinuate what she can & can't spend her money on - A user of boards, she posted on a public forum & as a member of the public, I replied

Reasonable amount to spend on shoes - anything up to about €150 for a pair in everyday use - i.e. long lasting

I'm sure they do look stunning to some people - probably the same people who went for the "Sex & the city movie & cocktails" promotions.

Giving generously to charity - hopefully so, however what or how often people give is their business, I was merely drawing attention to the outrageous price of this tat compared with some people's everyday suffering literally on our own doorsteps.

Condescending & righteous - well I didn't mean to be, if that's the way it was taken up by some people, maybe they're trying to defend their own shortcomings.

Back on topic - to be honest when you are walking the soles roughen up anyway and the red starts to disappear in the areas that are in contact with the ground anyway. I was disappointed at first but to be honest it's still very much a red sole and mine are well worn at this stage. If you did want to grate the sole to provide more grip you aren'te really doing anymore damage to the red sole that you wouldn't do walking in them anyway.

iMax she didn't ask what you thought about the price of the shoes, she asked how to make them less slippy.

Anyhoo, whenever I buy shoes that are slippy I spray hairspray on the sole of the shoes and that makes them grip much better until they roughen up themselves from just walking. It's never failed me. :)

Two solutions, neither of which will make a difference to the visible part of the sole.

    1) Wear them outside on a concrete or tarmac surface and basically do the twist for a few minutes.

    2) Take a wire barbeque brush and scuff the sole slightly to give extra grip.

Both of these will scuff up the ball of the shoe without affecting the slope of the sole from the heel to the ball, which is the part people will see.

These are tricks we use all the time on new dancing shoes to make them grip better.

While I see where you're coming from, it's not really your business, especially on a Fashion And Appearance thread.

No you didn't. You dragged the thread completely off topic.

Or maybe they just think you were being condescending and righteous...

    here here!! couldnt agree more!

to get back to the topic, like someone said about, when you were them out a bit on some concrete or rough surface they will grip a lot better. on saying that the red will come off the sole either way (even wearing them on carpet). enjoy them!

.. Aldo sell little pads you put on the bottom of the shoe, only €2.50 i think .. The ones i have are black tho so they might not do if you dont wana cover up any of the red.

The red sole will wear away on the balls of your foot anyway, so roughen it up with some sandpaper before you first wear them to give you some grip.

Yes, was going to suggest these, pity they are black though.

She didn't ask for your opinion on the price, she asked for ideas on how not to slip while wearing them.

OP - spend your money whatever way you want! CLs are that price because they are a designer after all and you pay for quality. I think CLs are absolutely gorgeous :D

By the way, I don't think that they would be slippy on a normal floor, it was probably just the floor in BT. Did you ask one of the SAs in BT about it? I doubt that Mr. Louboutin would make slippy shoes!

Which ones are you gonna get? I love the Very Prive ones, they are gorgy!

a little bit of scuffing using sandpaper helps the grip:)

    You people are fashionaphylactic

Utter mindless fashion zombies. Someone in a movie gets paid to wear overpriced overhyped tat & you're falling over yourselves to hand over your hard earned cash for them.

They'll be taken out of the wardrobe approx 20 times in the next year, because once everyone knows you have them you'll be looking for something else to make sure everyone's talking about you. But that's ok, wearing them 20 times means they only cost you €26.25 a time.

iMax, this is the Fashion and Appearance forum. For discussing fashion. If you just want to abuse us here for discussing fashion then I recommend that you leave.

You're clearly missing the point of this forum entirely.

iMax, I also think 500e on a pair of shoes might be a little silly. But I also think it's the OP's choice. It's her birthday present, something she will very likely treasure -a friend has a pair of Manulo Blankiks (or however it's spelt) and she loves them and wears them non-stop, the high price tag also pays for high quality material and high quality design (presume you're a man, but try a pair of heels in pennys on, then a pair of something from BT. BT's heel could be 10 times higher, but they'll feel comfy). So what do you think she should buy for that money? :p

OP: as some else said, it's probably the floor, you could delicately use a knife to slash thin, *shallow* ridges in this soles, that'll give grip but not destroy the red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭naasface

hi thanks for the replies.. yeah i was thinking of getting a sole put on them but i've come to realise that the red sole on the ball of the feet is going to get scuffed anyway so i think i will wear them round the house/garden before i hit the d-floor.
they're really high so if i didn't scrape the bottom i would go completely head over t.it.
as regards the price, they're for my birthday and most people are going to spend €500 on booze over xmas/new yrs season (i don't drink much)- at least i'm spending (or rather other people are for me :)) money on something physical!! They're a good quality investment imo!
Oh and tinkerbell they are very privé black patent peeptoes :) (will go with everything!)
would it be better to put ridges in them or scuff them with sandpaper??
they were extremely slippy on carpet but grand on the wooden floor in bts but wanna be safe

I would never spend 30K on a car, or 1000 euro on a television or a few hundred euro on some games console. To me those things would all be a huge waste of money.
Thats because I dont value them, I dont watch television, I just want my car to work and I've never played a computer game in my life (at least not since supermario and sonic the hedgehog) but I would never berate someone else for spending money on their own interests and desires.

So why dont you browse some other forum instead of posting your self-righteous preaching here.

Not at all. Alot of people buy what appeals to them not what's in fasion.

Have these appeared in a movie? How do you know that? Gimme a min to check my/girlfriends wardrobes to see if anything there has appeared in a movie............ hmnnn no. Again we bought what appeals to us.

You're making assumptions here mate. Yeah some folk might wear them occasionally but we all know someone who 'lives' in shoes/boots etc that they love. Perhaps the OP is this type of person.

OP, generally it would be a good idea to scrape down the sole with sandpaper... In saying that the soles could be leather and any drop of rain or wet will turn them into ice skates - I have been that soldier but I love my CL's...

    Good choice...

Oooh so you are getting the very privé peeptoes! A great choice :D Wear 'em well! They are quite high but that's why they look so good!

EDIT: I've just read on another forum that once you've worn them once that the sole gets scuffed and they don't slip much then. I wouldn't wear them out in the rain though until you've worn them out a few times and the sole has gotten a little scuffed. Good luck!
