I built a HTPC for a friend of a friend a few months back - he'd helped out with my friend that was doing the electrics rewiring in my house so it was a quid pro quo job - I'm no expert on HTPCs so I said I'd do the best I could.

He's just gotten back to me asking if I can finish off some outstanding items on it. I'm crazy busy in work these days and to be honest don't have the deep or current understanding to really do a good job to close out these items. We're even on the favours side so he's offerring to pay for me to finish it off but I couldn't accept that even if I did have the knowledge to sort it. But in not wanting to disappoint him I said I'd try look into it and get it sorted but I'm now thinking it would be a smarter move if I could find someone he could pay a reasonable fee to to sort it out once and for all. Anyone interested? You can either post on here or PM me if you are interested.

He is located in Carlow but willing to travel to Dublin and could probably drop it off for the weekend to be worked on.

I'll post details later on spec and installed software (OS is Vista Ultimate) when he sends them on, but here are the main items outstanding:

    1. Get S3 Standby working and get it sleeping and waking when needed.

    2. Get the Pioneer DVD/Bluray drive working so that it plays BluRay discs. Will post model number and I know additional software licenses may be required.

    3. Replace the Hauppage PVR 500 MCE with a better TV tuner. He has a Sky satellite box going into the 500MCE via s-video but sometimes it gives poor bluey or greeny picture. He's happy to pay for another card if it will give better picture.

    4. Sort out a fan speed issue - the uGuru software that came with the mobo doesn't seem to remember the selection of the User1 profile I setup with low speeds so he has to do this manually each time to reduce the noise.

    5. Sort out a BIOS issue that requires him to press F1 on the keyboard at reboot. Might just be a reset.

    6. Add MyMovies support - not working for him at the moment, not sure if he paid for a license.

    7. Improve codec support to allow him play all types of video through MCE.
