I have a sony STR-dg910 amp and Jamo 301's I just wondering what the effect of mismatch ohm's will have on the sound quality?

    Thanks.

    Good question.

The effect is more in terms of will the amp be able to supply the current to the speakers without blowing itself up rather than how will it sound.

The amp is 7x100w @8ohm, so essentially there is enough current to drive a resistance of 8 ohms.

your resistance is less (6ohms) so your speakers will suck more power than the amp is rated for.

Assuming that the load (volume) is not excessive I'd say that you will be okay, but just be aware of the reason why this is a problem.

Resistance is stopping the current flow through the amp, and this is not even through the audio spectrum. Many speakers will be as low as 2 ohm in places, so require big amps capable of high current to be able to drive them.

If you were trying to drive 16ohm speakers you would have more effect on sound quality rather than fear of your amp blowing up.
