F T P Problem ?

When browsing with Internet Explorer am unable to connect to the YouTube website but can do so using Google chrome.
This problem started when using Internet Explorer I had been doing some work on my PC - sending emails and logging onto various websites, I followed this by I logging onto the YouTube website and downloaded and saved some items via Real Player Plus. During this I noticed an extra monitor showing on the task bar and being curious I clicked on one of them, it disappeared along with the YouTube connection. The Real player settings are correct and the ADSL connection is working normally as I can still access and save from this website with my laptop.

The diagnostics say there is a problem with the FTP connection which I am unable to fix. Strangely this problem seem to be confined my PC and YouTube, I can log onto this website using Google Chrome but not with Internet Explorer, but cannot save files to my P C with either browser.

Hope there is a simple solution.

I dont know about the other regulars here but we've all learned at one stage or another not to use Internet Explorer, for security reasons (its tied right into the Operating System) and because its the slowest web browser by far. Honestly, I would simply keep using chrome, or Install Firefox 3.0.4, which will automatically import all your bookmarks and preferences from internet explorer when you run it for the first time.

Sorry to be negative, but Firefox 3 is known not to compatible with Real Player. Firefox 2 was! Believe me I have tried. Real have not issued a patch for this. I already use Firefox 3 as my regular browser but have learned from other forums (fora?) that it will not communicate with Real Player.
It is not a matter of another browser copying settings etc, it seems like that some hidden (to me) setting was changed by the zapping of the second little monitor. I want to undo it and look forward to a solution..

RealPlayer definitely works with Firefox 3, on Windows at least. Have you tried a system restore, assuming you have a restore point not too far back?

Firefox 3 opens but would never save a file downloaded to Real Player. Can anyone do this? Other forums have reported this selfsame issue.

Yes I have tried a system restore to a point well in advance of the reported occurance.

Could the diagnoostics be correct? If so how can I find and use a new F T P ? I could then continue using Explorer or maybe Chrome until I find that Firefox 3 saves these files.

Realplay 11.0.5 downloads fine from firefox 3.0.4. There was a problem with some of the earlier versions of either rp or ff which wouldnt let you download.

Thanks for all the help. Got it partially working with Firefox by installing the latest version of Real Player. Explorer still won't log onto YouTube, but I am ingoring that for the present. B T W never got anywhere with the FTP query.

YouTube shouldn't be using FTP for downloads. Try visiting ftp://ftp.linksys.com in Windows Explorer to see if it's working. Make sure port 21 isn't blocked if you can't use it.
