Support or engineering? Support- Network+/MCSA/MCSE, engineering-CCNA/CCNP, CCNA/MCSE would be a great mix to have.

Security I would start with Security+ to get a good foundation then move on to more serious security certs(Some of which require experience working in IT security)

CCNA Security may be an option for you too, being reading up on it and it looks very intersting.(Link)

Security+ is the place to start but it should be built on top of Network+. Following that you can on to do the Cisco or Microsoft route. On the MS side there are Server 2003 / 2008 courses which includes a lot about security followed by implementing and admin security in a MS windows server 2003 network and then you could do CCNA or move on to CPTS Certified Penetration Testing Specialist.
