As a 30 Irish male...I am growing increasingly concerned at the number of Irish women who have blonde highlights or trying to look blonde...seemingly oblivious to how silly it looks....WHY?????

I think it looks ridiculous and makes all the women look the same..like US women.

Are Irish women embarrassed of their hair colour or what?...thats the one thing Irish women have going for them..their unique colour and looks...I saw enough barbie doll wannabes in the US.

Ok - its lunchtime and Im bored.....

Whats wrong with liking and having blonde hair? I dont know one blonde girlI know - including myself - who hs had their hair done for any other reason other that that they want blonde hair - not " I wanna lug lige an amerigan".

I still think there are relatively few blondes here compared to the UK. Maybe Im wrong. Maybe you just see them everywhere because youre looking for them?

There are defo more natural blondes in UK and more Aryian types...very rare in Ireland which can make it look silly plus when contrasted with dark eyebrows..its so bleedin' obvious..or else there are a lot of crap hairdressers in Ireland bull****ing Irish women..

    What??

I have blonde highlights because I think it suits me, not for any other reason?..

Er..I dye my hair blonde simply because I like blonde as a hair colour.
If you're not into blondes then go out with a nice brunette..:)

I think the OP's right tbh, there are way too many 'blonde' Irish women. 2% of Irish women are natural blondes but something like 38% ARE blonde! In a lot of cases it doesn't suit them at all either, especially as they get older.

I get my hair done blonde because I have pale skin, blue-green eyes, and my natural black-brown hair just completely washes me out.
Everyone and their mother in Ireland has the same natural colouring as me.
So I get it done blonde. I also tint my eyebrows so I don't look like Madonna circa 1986.

when you put it like that then its clear that too many Irish women are dying their hair blonde from their own natural hair colour.. However i wouldn't go as far as the OP and rant on about them trying to 'copy' US Women..

Personally as a 17 year old Male, i find myself being more attracted to blonde women than brunettes or redheads.. Personal preferance or social custom? I'll let you debate that ;)

meh if they want them who the **** are you to judge like tbh?

not all women are stupid and they can make a judgment on what they think looks good. cause at the end of the day that's all that matters.

Kinda agree. Well....i agreed more so when i was blond myself. I remember being in a nightclub one night and just being able to see all Blond heads and thinking "Right, i'm going back to Brown!"
I've nothing against blonds at all though!
....the odd time i look at a girl though and think, "No amount of blond makes your face look better.." Miaow i know. but i think sometimes girls with not the best looks do it for the sake of it. coz theres still that stigma about Blonds.
But thats only the odd one!! - before i get slated. as i said....i dont go thinking about it too deeply. and it's nice to have a change if you've been dark haired for years!

I don't know what you mean by "blonde" exactly, because there are LOTS of fair-haired women in Ireland too. I presume you mean bleached blonde? My hair is very fair but I still get a few highlights for contrast, which I think a lot of women do, of their own volition, not because of pressure from their hairdressers!

Incidentally, my eyebrows are so fair that I darken them a bit. What exactly is the problem? If you don't find it attractive don't go out with a blonde girl.

id have to disagree here; darker hair on older women can look awful, especially if its is dyed very dark. The older you get, the more your face loses its youthful , healthy glow, and skin looks washed out. Having dark hair adds to this washed out look, so the older you get, light blond tones can be far more flattering than darker tones.

Most Irish women have that horrible mousy browny blondy natural hair colour. Can you blame them for dying it :P

We're not all blessed like other nationalites with good hair, e.g. the Italians, Spanish and French with lovely shiney dark brown hair, or eastren Europeans with nice blonde hair. :pac:

I hear ya! But on the other hand, all the other hairs on the body are fair too...I'd hate to have dark hair anywhere but on my head

My hair used to be blonde, but got darker as I got older. I have highlights because I think it suits me better than my natural shade of blah (not quite brown, not quite blonde) Many people don't even realise I have highlights though, I like the natural look. I don't think people should go too far from their natural colour unless they're prepared to keep dyeing their roots regularly, but that's just my opinion!

i used to get a few highlights but got bored with them too. They used to turn brassy after a while as well. Now i get red streaks and i love them i get more positive comments about the red too. Think everyone is so used to seeing blonde its good to see something different. Blonde is so expensive to maintain too its madness paying for it.

I dye my hair blonde because naturally, my hair is a shade in between blonde and brown, while managing to be neither. It's just kind of mousy. I've tried dying my hair brown, but with my pale skin and pale eyes, it washes me out. Blonde just suits me better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

im a brunette, an id never go blonde purely cuz i dont have the colouring for it (pale skin, green eyes) but i know lots of my girlfriends who are naturally dark, and now dyed blonde. they get far more male attention now than when they were au naturel so its not just them that think its a good idea, the blokes certainly think so too!

But more women have brown hair, and they look al the same too. It's not quite a simple as problem as you put it. Most people nowadays are just boring little sods who think conforming to the leatest thread makes them mature.
