Harbour House will hold a IWA 48 Shot Short course competition as well as a steel challenge on 6th December, all current certificate holders are welcome.

The IWA 1500 48 Short Course that has been shot several times at Harbour House has shown that there is a significant difference in abilities of participants, with the top places going to virtually the same individuals each time, recognising this we will ask people to self delare their ability, we will have advanced, intermediate and Novice, we are presently looking at scores achieved in the past and will assign bands to allow an easier way of putting a participant into the class appropriate to their skills.

We will have the same prizes 1 to 3 for each class and the Steel Challenge. Banding scores will be published in the near future.

So regardless of your ability come along and try the course of fire, who knows you might win a prize. If there are sufficient entries in Revolver class we will provide additional prizes.

    Hi Bob,

    How did the shoot go?

It went very well, with partricipants as far away as Cork and Sligo, great turn out, a good crew from Hilltop as usual and a number from DTSC.

The 48 Shot went with the usual gusto, lots of partiicpation and lots of fun, three divisions, expert (those capable of >440) Intermediate (400 to 439) and novice <400 and revolver class, there was a steel challenge run on range 2 with help from the lads from Hilltop.

All in all the compteition was as usual "great"

Prizes for all classes were standard with Pistol cases as first prize, 2nd Pistol bags, 3rd Hunting knife and 4th was a pistol rug, all classifiactions received the same prizes, there was excellent sponsorship support from Millards and we are very grateful to them.

The steel challenge prize of a biometric wall safe was sponsored by John Lynch the local firearms dealer.

And what can I say about the catering except this year it was exceptional, lunch was the usual sandwiches and copious amounts of tea and coffee, courtesy of Tommy and Maura, then the real treat, at 15:30 after all the shooting was finished the hot food arrived, Venison hotpot, chicken curry, cold platter, deserts, christmas pudding, trifle, mince pies................. More than 50 participants were well catered for and there was lots more that could ahve been accomodated.

Another excellent shoot at Harbour House, long may they go on.

Thanks to all the crew who ran the shoot, the RO's, Tommy, Maura, John Lyncha and the help from the lads in Hilltop.

We did have a visit from a local public representative who saw how well the shoot was run and wo was very impressed with the safe use of the "dangerous" handguns that the Gardai and the minister wish to remove from private ownership!
