GAA All Star Tour

Just want to write a little bit of a rant about the GAA All Stars that traveled to San Francisco last week to play in a challenge match (07 All Stars v 08 All Stars).
This event was to coincide with the opening of a new ground for the San Francisco GAA.
There was an opening game between a pick of San Fran based players against each other before this game.
This game was fairly competitive as most players knew each other and everyone wanted to impress in front of large crowd and All Stars.
Then came the "Big Game", what a total pile of crap, talk about a lack of effort !
They had as much interest as the man on the moon, they put zero effort in and just lobbed the ball around the field, no tackles or anything.
It was embarrassing to watch, lots of people just left in disgust. Lots of the crowd would be die hard Gaa fans and i think its a disgrace that they were subject to that.
I had no problem with them going on the beer flat out when they came because its not actually a real competitive game but since everything was paid for them to come over and then they get the gate receipts i was told, it cost $20 to enter, why not at least look interested in playing.
Why not just have a pick of the home based players here in San Fran play the All Stars if they are going to not even try to play football.

Then they had the cheek to ask the San Fran players to swap jerseys with them, cos the two san fran teams that played each other had two nice custom jerseys made and the All Stars just had their regular jersey that you could probably buy online.

It may be a bit of a rant and people may have many reasons to disagree but I think it shows a poor attitude amongst these so called All Stars of whom in reality there are only a handful of really gifted stand out footballers

The All Star game is only an exhibition as the scores would confirm.

not a great post IMO. these players deserve every break they get. they have given their all for the county teams over the past few years and have been the best players in the country. they have earned it.

I don't think you people get the point i am making. These players are not that great in reality when compared to the effort put in by all GAA players around Ireland. Yes, I agree they deserve a break and reward of which is also given by the county boards of each county but to go on tour to "promote' the game abroad and to just go on the piss and then embarrass themselves in front of a large crowd of Irish people that made a huge effort for these people shows a serious lack of class.
The All Stars that came out on tour before behaved in a much better manner as I think they appreciated what they were given and the responsibility they had in regards to the Irish community abroad.
A lot of these players would of also played in the states before and are always taken very good care of and now they get a free trip and also get paid for it and they don't even bother to make an effort.
I get what an exhibition is but there is a lot more to it as already stated

I am from Kerry, I played Division 1 football there for a number of years and now I still play in the states.
If I were home, I would attend games obviously and I attend games in the states during the season
