Recently had to travel from Athlone to Dublin, way up was okay but the way down was a complete pig. I walked through the train and counted at least 100+ who had no seats, heard one guy who had a seat booked fobbed off with a reply " should have been here 20 mins before train departs, tough " and off the conductor went.

Toilets overflowing into the corridor and basically no one gave a hoot, they had my 28 Euro and I could always walk.

So for me, cheaper to drive, pay the toll, leave when I want......

My daughter who is in college in Dublin said the only way to travel is bus, no seat then no journey and its just as quick and not too much difference than train.

Keep their cheap fares, goes along with their cheap service....
