I'm going to a winter wedding soon and have been trying on dresses. I really like this one. Is it OK to wear it or is wearing black to a wedding a no-no?

I think that's gorgeous, and yeah it's grand to wear black, especially when its a pretty dress like that :)

I was at a winter wedding last year, I wore a charcoal grey dress and black shrug, lots of people wore black, silvery grey and purple, Christmassy sparkly kind of stuff, a nice little black or silvery shrug would be cute with it, and would keep you warm :)

This dress is beautiful. You could accessorise with silver to give the black a lift.

I love the following dress also, i think it is so elegant and feminine.

    I hope this helps.

The Jocelyn dress is so pretty, perfect for a wedding, even the colour! Some nice sparkly jewellery, nice heels and a grey/silver/black wrap would be perfect with it.

I cant see the link but I do not see any problem wearing a black dress to a wedding - one of my best friends wore a black dress to my winter wedding over 23 months ago.

Thanks for all your help. It's just that I've seen a few things where you're not supposed to wear black to a wedding. Some old wives' tale or other. I'd have thought that white was the only no-no myself.

I think that's just what it is... an old wives tale (isn't there something about not wearing green to a wedding too?)

Anything goes at weddings these days, that dress is beautiful and perfect for a winter wedding. As a previous poster said, silver accessories would look amazing with it and it looks like a dress you can wear again and again.

Go for it, I guarantee you won't be the only woman wearing black. I think the only colour that raises eyebrows is wearing white to a wedding.
