UPC DVR - mini guide problem

Recently got the DVR installed and from day one I've had an issue when using the mini guide (now on and next on). If I click through it to see what is on the other channels while still watching my current channel, the mini guide sometimes goes into a loop and clicks through the now showing menu for all the channels repeatedly as if I was hit the right arrow continuously.

Is this a known 'bug' or do I have a faulty box?

Has been fixed today with software update.

    How do you know this?

I've had my DVR powered off today, will the update happen automatically when I turn it on tonight?

Because my 2 DVR boxes went into update mode today.

The mini guide is now slower but more stable.

Also when putting in the 3 numbers to select a channel you now get a little more time.

I've never seen that, how do you know it's happened ... I assume it comes up as a message when you're booting the thing up? I should add that my box is powered up 24/7 so maybe it happens overnight and I've never noticed it.

Yes an on screen message saying software update.

I also had a problem with the mini guide where sometimes when changing through the channels it would think I pressed "5" and go back to 101 - wonder if that's been fixed too...

Have a play with the mini guide and tell me what you think.

Looks like mine hasn't been updated or if it has then it hasn't fixed the mini guide. I usually turn it off at night but I'm going to leave it on tonight in case it updates at night.

Is there a setting to show which version of software it is running?

Did you get series link with this update?

I figure that is true. I know it was due this month but UPC aren't the best at meeting deadlines...

Someone else posted somewhere that its been pushed until the second week of January and will probably happen when we get the new cards.

No only the changes I mentioned I am afraid.

When I see the first box go into update mode that is what I was thinking.

At least the mini guide is more stable.

Can't say I've really noticed, but the random selection of '5' and the frantic zapping only happened very, very infrequently with mine, so it may take a bit of time before I really notice the difference.

Still having both those problems and they happen regularly! How can I tell if my DVR has updated? Or can I 'force' it to do an upgrade if it hasn't done it?

I find it incredible that UPC can put out such a clunky bit of kit. Will seriously look at switching to Sky in the New Year if this continues.

There was an update the mini guide has been slowed down also when hitting in the three digits of a channel number you get a little more time.

As regards the problem you mentioned it has happened me since too so it looks like the rather limited update did not fix this.

There should be another update soon with the series link maybe that will fix this problem?
