DIY install of Geothermal

    Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has installed Geothermal themselves on a new build.

If so how successful was it? how did you figure out how to do it?
Any good books/manuals on the subject that someone could recommend.

I can see that installing the pump itself would be straightforward enough.

How about the collector and under floor pipes is it difficult to set these up correctly?

Having it installed by the professionals seems to be pretty expensive and puts it out of my budget.

Just wondering if others have tried and succeeded?

    Thanks...

Internal pipes laid in floor shouldn't be a problem as most companies provide a detail cad plan, showing the layout - some also give the exact amount of pipe! So if you run out you have misread the drawing.

External pipes for ground collector, laid on ground is relatively straight forward. As is sinking pipes in a bole hole.

Installing a unit and plumbing it - thats a different story!
Of course an experienced Plumber and Electrician would be a great help.

That's what I found when installing our UFH, each coil was labelled with what zone it was to be used for and in most cases I had only a couple of metres or so left over (that's after about 150m in the floor).

    Hi Donal,
Can I ask through a PM or whatever where you got your underfloor pipes from, were they expensive? Were they easy to install pressure test etc.

Just looking for ways to reduce the cost of the heating system.
    Thanks...
