Hi all, in Koh Samui at the moment and have to get to Bangkok on the 14th of decemeber as have a hotel booked there fro few days and a flight out on the 16th to Australia. Anyways havent really planned to much as the whole Bangkok troubles sent my plans all over the place so everything so far as just been planned last minute as i move around.

Anyways just would like to hear some recommendations on how to get to Bangkok on the 14th be it by Train, Bus, or air. Not too interested in going by bus but train is fine with me. Not sure how it works to be honest, where to get the train and so forth. Flights as well I am interested in but the train seems a good way as would get to see more on the ground.

Any help would be much appreciated people. Peoples experience on their different ways of getting there would be much appreciated also.

Where are you in Chaweng?? if so there is a travel agents right oppisite the lord nelson bar you can get a flight up for about 70 euro. but you would want to book it today as i made the mistake of leaving it till the last minute last year and all the flights up were booked up.

I have done train and plane. Obviously plane is quickest. Book online with Bangkok Airways www.bangkokair.com I found them very good. The train can be good fun depending on who you are with, but its 12-14 hours…with ferry, etc. I would opt for speed of plane is cash allows.

Hi we are staying on Chaweng Noi beach at moment, its nice and a bit away from the main Chaweng beach, the hotel is lovely as well which is good. Its monsoon season here apparently but still havent had any rain and the heat is pleasant, got bit burnt today though :o

May check out that travel agent place tomorrow and see how much it would be.

Tom, I hope you are flying into Koh Samui as the airport is just cool. the little cart things that use to transport you to the terminal are cool even though its only a few mins transfer.

Well if you want to go about doing it yourself then:

Get a Songthaew from Chaweng to Nathon, ferry across to the mainland (Don Sak), get bus to Surat Thani train station and then get overnight train back to Bangkok.

Otherwise just go into a tourist office and get them to sort out a flight or ticketing for the above trip.

Think I'd fly too to have a bit chill time before long-haul flight etc. It's v cheap and quite pleasant and as already stated the airport in Samui rocks....
