I started running a couple of months ago, and have to say i am finding it difficult enough.I am reasonably fit, not overweight but cant seem to build up any stamina.I try and run for 30 mins on a treadmill but can only manage say around 10 mins then have to walk for 3 or 4 mins then off again.

Anyone got any ideas or tips?

Is it REALLY fatigue that makes you have to stop and walk?

Try a slower running pace for longer. Might be worthwhile investing in a heart rate monitor too. You can have the heart rate monitor determine the speed of the treadmill (if your heart rate goes above a limit, it will slow down).

Most importantly though....stick with it. :) You'll eventually hit a point where you can just run....and run.....and run.....

That's a fair point too....I find that I push myself a bit harder when I'm working out with a friend instead of on my own. That little competitive edge just creeps in. :) We've both acknowledged that we go that bit further / harder when the other's there.
