PPV Value?!

Posting this pre-ODLH fight but Sky should be reported to some form of consumer association for charging £15 (or whatever it was) tonight. The fights so far in order have been:

Enzo in Round 2 after a shambloic series of events.

Khan in Round 2 against a guy who was there as a punching bag.

    Lopez in Round 1

Jacobs in Round 2 (actually, i enjoyed this as this kid looks great)

Ortiz in Round 1 against a guy who didn't look interested.

Now the main event may be quality but when you consider that Mayweather v ODLH was on Sky Sports 1 for free, they have some nerve charging customers to see these fights. This is really put into perspective by anyone who watched the card on ITV4 and then the Froch fight on ITV - it was absolutely brilliant boxing from start to finish.

    Any opinions?

Yeah boxing fans get robbed in the states. Everything is ppv over there and $55 for a lot of stuff:eek:

Thats why I dont complain too much, we get a lot of quality boxing over here non-ppv so I dont mind paying for the odd fight.

At the same time Im thinking "hang on I pay for sky sports every month why should I pay more for the sport I want to see?". 44 extra this month on Hatton and tonight is a bit of a pisstake.

So two minds really. I suppose the whole concept of sky ppv is a bit dusgusting when your already paying a fair whack for the channle but as long as people are willing to pay.......and I always am:rolleyes:

    The match ups were poor.

Nobodies expecting sky to have a crystal ball and give only quality fights. The point is charging for a night of boxing with almost exclusively one sided match ups. Its certainly not good value for money imo.

    Don't get it then.
It's not exactly a surprise how it turned out. Pretty much everyone on here predicted it

Of course Im going to get it....I get every PPV fight. I wanted to see ODLH v Manny and Id pay even if there was no undercard because as a fan I dont make the decision rationally. Its always a nice gesture though when its good value for money and some effort is made for the undercard.

Its good for Sky in the long run too and more importantly the sport of boxing. Nobody gains when people are charged for such one sided match ups. There's a wider issue here than the 20 quid out of my pocket.

Well maybe think about not getting some PPV's then. If people are going to blindly pay no matter what why would Sky care about the card. Easy money for them

I think all in all it was worth the 22 quid. It could have been much better value though. The original line up was very good.

Cook vs Foster wbo super featherweight title
Maccarenelli vs Banks wbo cruiserweight title
    Khan vs Fagan
    Harrison vs Rogan

    De La Hoya vs Pacquiao
    Lopez vs Medina
    Ortiz vs Resto

    7 interesting fights.
No-ones to blame for the 2 wbo fights been called off.

All the fans though Fagan would go the distance or at least most of it and had a punchers chance of tagging Khan.

Rogan-Harrison was spot on and as good a heavyweight fight out there.

Ortiz-Resto was good while it lasted.

Lopez-Medina... Bernard Dunne better plough into the mince pies over the christmas and get as far away from super bantam as possible for a world title fight!!

De La Hoya-Pacquiao. I think this would have been more competitive if DLH came in at 147 and rehydrated properly. I dont know what he done or why he didnt but his plan backfired on him. Manny done a job on him with ease.

Pity about some of the matches but we got to see plenty of knockouts and some great action from undercard fights you usually miss.
