Would you not build one yourself? Get the latest quad core processor, i7 and ddr3 RAM and a mother =board that supports 24GB RAM. A system like that should last a long time and you could build this for under the 2000 euro budget.

Or you could spend a grand and still get a computer capable of running all the latest games. (If you were building it yourself, that is)

I don't think that I would be skilled enough to build a system from scratch by myself. Would I save very much on a self build?

What I would want is a system that will last for a few years without the need for upgrading. From what I have read, Flight Sim X is a graphically intensive game so I need a system that will be able to run this game achieving good frame rates on a high setting.

Can anyone here advise me on the advantages and disadvantages of an overclocked system? Should I be aiming for a i7 processor? Also, any drawbacks to water cooled systems?

    Thanks

    1) you'll save a fortune by self building. You'll also save a fortune by buying the components and have them build the machine for you, various online sites do this. Pre built systems are never really the best cash saver. There's a great company called Ankermann, they do great cheap gaming systems - you'd pick up a machine that'd play any game at high settings for 600-700 euro.
    2) i7 is not worth it for games, only tasks like encoding. A budget of 1K would build a hefty gaming machine, especially for someone not into the bells and whistles of computer hardware.
    3) Flight Sim X is not that graphically intense by the latest standards, so a machine that'll eat it alive won't cost anywhere near your budget
    4) Water cooling - stay away if you haven't even self built yet. :D
    5) Advantages of an overclocked system? None, if you buy a pre-overclocked system. They factor that into the price more or less, and the fundamental point of overclocking is to acheieve greater performance for less $$, not pay extra. If you overclock yourself, you basically get the performance of a faster expensive CPU for free.
