I dont know which is sadder? The fact you're in D2 or that you are out and watching the late late show in the jax?

Thread spirals into an anti-Pat descent

Don't know if Aer Lingus takeover is a good thing or not! Ryanair are building it up to a like it or lump it situation but its not as straightforward as they would like you to think.

There's life in the Lingus yet!

Hes a very practical insightful person, its a pity that we cant put politics aside and put these type of people in charge of the country.

Michael O'Leary is an exceptionally good speaker. I have to say I really do admire him, even for this quality alone.
I've seen and heard him speak on a number of occasions and he's always, always credible.
He does really well in portraying the "no bull**** guy" image.

Indeed. If we did, perhaps we would achieve a whole lot more than we do now.

The Michael O'Leary interview was insightful.
O'Leary to me set out his stall and has me sold. He's a serious operator and business mind. Did you note the way he slouched in the seat - other business people sit up prim and proper, O'leary simply does'nt give a damn. Very interesting person indeed.
The retort over the €400 or €40 Million (i forget which it was) was magic........."its not big money" - and looked blankly at Pat with the who gives a **** about this kinda mickey mouse money gaze.
Best interview on the LL for ages.
The Alan Sugar interview was rubbish, utter pre-recorded rubbish.

    The interview will..?

I really want to see it, I missed the LLS last night (well I've missed it nearly every week since Pat took over) but any interview with Michael O'Leary I always enjoy watching.

So it's going to be on the internet yea? Or is it ever repeated on tv?

O'Leary is the CEO and a large shareholder of Ryanair, one of, if not the largest airline in Europe.

The LL is repeated on RTE 1 late on a sunday or monday night, forget which.

Yeah MOL was very convincing, He is a shrewd businessman, and i think if the Govt refuse his offer, they simply have to go!

    O Leary... what a ledgend!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94GJnjvj_3U

Although he wasnt his usual self last night, he was way to nice! Sucking up to the government.....

And yea first thing I said when he came on was that he looked a bit gaunt!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,682 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

There is no bull**** about the guy. He will get Aer Lingus in the end. Great businessman and I dont think he would disagree with the idea that he will screw us whenever he can re ticket price although I cannot disagree with the way they work. i.e. book in time and fly for nothing or book late and pay the price. I just hope that having aerlingus in his control will not give him the opportunity to screw us more often.

And yes he has aged 10 years in the last month.

Ahhh yes rings a bell now. Irish CEO Alan Joyce of Aussie budget airline company Jetstar pretty much transferred all his knowledge learnt in Ryanair under the tutelage of O'Leary to the then fledgling airline company.

O'Leary's cost cutting helped Jetstar off the ground

If anyone is interested...that interview is on the RTE website now

    http://www.rte.ie/tv/latelate/
